Sorry to be ignorant – I have no clue what that means. Generally aside from updating to the latest DOF config, Ive never had to do anything to select a ROM. So If you can guide me in that Id appreciate it.

September 1, 2017 at 5:40 pm #62810Couple ways to do it either in script or on dof site. Go to dof site log in and choose table configs and choose black hole. You will see couple options for rom there. Choose the other rom and save. Re generate and install nEw configs

December 9, 2017 at 12:34 pm #70895cool stuff, tested and modified it to my liking today (I like the many options)!
One thing doesn’t work as it should, though: when the ball comes back from the lower playfield through “re entry” I think the gate on the outlane should snap right. That doesn’t work in my case, so the ball is always lost through the outlane…
And btw Black Hole is still missing in DOF’s table mappings (freshly generated in DOF config tool), so DOF doesn’t work. I added it manually in my config and it works, but I’ll inform arngrim about it.

December 9, 2017 at 12:42 pm #70897I think you need to qualify for the re-entry to shut during lower pf play ?

December 9, 2017 at 12:51 pm #70902Maybe yes, I don’t remember the real machine. But wouldn’t that be really nasty to be punished hardly for entering the lower playfield.
Edit: huh, I think you are right, it is the “open gate…” stuff on the lower playfield. Not sure, if I like that, pretty nasty that you can really loose the ball in a side game…
On the other hand it is a Black Hole, those aren’t known for being too kindYou need to login in order to like this post: click here
December 9, 2017 at 12:57 pm #70905Come to think of it, believe there is some way to qualify for it on the upper playfield as well – because I remember trying to avoid the lower pf until I was sure I had the re-entry covered.

December 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm #70908In the dof config tool, you can choose between two roms. Pull the table up and make sure you have the one selected that you’re using.

December 9, 2017 at 3:16 pm #70916Nevermind, concerning DOF I now got it. Everything cool, I now know what I missed. Thanks for your help

December 9, 2017 at 3:31 pm #70919^^ yes, but anyways in the tablemappings.xml generated Black Hole isn’even mentioned in my case (just tested it again).
It’s there for me under “blkhole7”. If you haven’t changed the rom, it should be under “blckhole”. Maybe if you haven’t selected one, it won’t show up?

August 14, 2019 at 12:31 pm #141737I’m super new, so I’m not sure if I’m right about this, but shouldn’t the thing above the lower left flipper kick the ball? I’ve hit it several times and nothing happens. I know my terminology sucks, so I have attached a picture. lol. BTW…this is great! Thank you for taking the time to make this!

No that one’s not a kicking rubber, it should score some sort of points though.

August 14, 2019 at 1:28 pm #141746No, there are only two kicking rubbers on the upper playfield and one on the lower (and a kicking target)

March 23, 2020 at 8:12 am #168602Hello everybody,
I’m rather new to VPX and I installed my first 10 pinballs. I liked Black hole in the 80’s and I also like the recreation we have here. Great job! One thing: The upper playfield is a little bit TOO dark IMHO. Looks good, but hard to play. It’s darker than all the other pinballs that I have and also too dark compared to the backglass. Is there a way to brighten it up? Maybe with the camera/light mode?
Thanks….
Bern

March 23, 2020 at 10:58 am #168612https://vpinball.com/wiki/visual-pinball-knowledge-base/table-and-environment-lighting/ – one way of doing it – take the env file from another table pr. example. You can also use LUT files, and then you have the days and night slider.

March 23, 2020 at 1:01 pm #168619Yes, I’d try the day night slider. Should work ok. Might not be able to go full day, but should be able to brighten up fairly easily.
