Re creation of Bally’s Eight Ball
I have been slowly learning how to edit in VP, so when I saw that 32assassin has uploaded a PPPA table, I wondered why Eight Ball was never made. For those who aren’t aware, PPPA was a tournament that never happened, but two machines were re skinned, KISS and Eight Ball. Nothing was changed, just the artwork.
With that in mind, I wondered if I could simply just “undo” their work in a sense, and just re skin the PPPA machine. I was surprised to see some of the Eight Ball images already in the image directory, so my work was really cut in half, and I used the plastics and playfield image from moogster66 vp9 table.
I contacted 32, and he told me he originally made Eight Ball first, but couldn’t get all the permissions needed to release the table, so he went with PPPA. I went ahead, finished my table then with the help of Haunt Freaks, the lighting and shadows were fixed up, and the permissions needed were tied.
I really can’t take much credit at all for this table. It’s 32’s work, all I did was put a new coat of paint on it. I know JP just released this table as well, so now we have two. Thanks to;
32assassin- made the PPPA table
Popotte- the future pinball eight ball creator his apron pop bumper cap and plunger image were used
moogster66: vp9 table for the playfield and plastics
HauntFreaks: Lighting and shadows and detailing.
roccodimarco: re skinned

June 4, 2018 at 4:52 pm #87493Please make the flippers the same angle and height on the y-axis. If you didn’t intentional put them like this.

June 4, 2018 at 9:02 pm #87525Love the table. Thank you. The left flipper is kinda tucked under the plastic though. See attachment of actual table. Just a detail that caught my eye. Thank you!
@thalamus on this table pic does it look like they are not correctly angled either on angle and/or y-axis or my poor vision playing tricks on me?Attachments:

June 5, 2018 at 2:54 am #87566The graphics on the PF are asymmetrical. I think it just looks like they are uneven… really the graphics are uneven.

June 5, 2018 at 5:01 am #87570I just played the real thing at Pincon 2018, the flippers were slightly not even. You could tell by the flipper markers (the little holes used to align the flippers, they are not symmetrically placed)
edit: added a pic from the german schematics that shows this off-alignment. It’s perfectly ok if people want to correct this on their own copy but remember the purpose of the mis-alignment wasn’t to mess with the OCD out there but rather that left flipper, along with the lack of a left flipper lane is supposed to make it harder for you to hit the 8 ball loop. This was done by design and is not an error.
In saying that, the misalignment is subtle, it should be done in a way that makes you go “that alignment is weird” as opposed to “hey, that’s really off!”

June 5, 2018 at 10:33 am #87609In “eb-playfield” pic, they are blueprinted to be even. In “eb-alignment” 1 and 2 the tips of the flippers are in different positions… notice where they land in relation to the “S” in Bonus. In “eb-alignment 2” the flipper dips lower into the S.
