Shouldn’t be a problem. Only thing I can see is maybe a rare case of screw or something falling off pop bumper and falling into board? Maybe a plexiglass shield below bumpers? Great looking build borgdog! You sure cleaned up that stuff good!

February 9, 2017 at 10:42 pm #47913I’m slow but eventually I get there. Â thanks to @randr for his dropbox sainsmart files that allowed me to get the serial numbers for the 2 sainsmart’s in my cab, oh and the cabinet.xml for 2 sainsmarts from there as well. Â got a short time of loading software tonight, editing a couple of files, and woohoo we have DOF toys! Â
I still need to check and make sure all is working (I know I didn’t have the knocker go off in my short test), but here is a quick and dirty video showing/hearing some of the toys in action. Â I’m pretty excited, but damn is it loud with the tv and glass off the cab.

February 9, 2017 at 11:30 pm #47918That’s a thing of beauty congrats. Only natural the amount of great EM’s you have put out that you have chimes and a bell. Love your using real pinball parts to simulate real pinball noises.

November 18, 2018 at 8:02 pm #104441Dan,
I am very impressed with your DOF setup.  Are you using Pinscape to drive those solenoids or is everything being switched through your Sainsmart relay boards?
Regards,
Rick

November 18, 2018 at 8:09 pm #104444Thanks. I’m in the process of switching from sainsmart with an early zeb plunger/button input to a pinscape setup.

Where are the speakers located and what type did you use?
Thanks!
There are currently 2 sets of 2.1 computer speakers. One set, an older Boston Acoustics with like a 4″ sub and 2″ish sides speakers in in the backbox behind the TV. It gives surprisingly decent sound from back there, I was going to add some speaker ports behind them and rebound the sound off the wall behind the cab but haven’t felt the need to, there are however some vent holes near the top of the backbox. The other set, a cheap logitech set of about the same size is in the main cab, more toward the player end. both sets have remote volume controls which are run to inside the coin door. They seem to be fairly well balanced at this point and I just use the main computer volume to turn it up and down, usually using the keyboard that is always there.
that’s the current state. If I ever get around to tearing the cab open and finishing the conversion to pinscape from the sainsmarts I will be adding another pair of speakers to the mix and go for the full surround sound setup. this will likely come if I ever spend the big bucks to upgrade the playfield to a 43″ 120hz monitor, in which case I would need to rebuild the cab to be wider. lately though the cab has been piled with parts for the current real pin I’m fixing up

April 15, 2020 at 12:26 pm #173203I’m wondering if I can modify your cabinet to include these.
Harmon Kardon Sound Sticks ver 3 (meant to sound awesome) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Harman-Kardon-Soundsticks-Desktop-Speaker/dp/B003ZXDOMA
My thought is to add a speaker on each side of the wedge near the top at its widest, hopefully on each side of the monitor (see image)
Another bonus, the sub is down-firing, it should be possible to secure it into the cab.
What do you think?

April 15, 2020 at 1:10 pm #173221Those look cool. Were you wanting to mount them on the outside? there is really no space at all next to the monitor in the head, just a little tiny triangle.

April 15, 2020 at 1:15 pm #173223I suppose i could put them on either side of the top of the backbox, maybe put a flasher in front of each
