      Virtual Topper Images

A number of Virtual Topper builds are now underway, so I’m sharing my Topper Image collection to help people get started.

Some images are basic but others have had more effort put in. Either way, these may be a useful starting point for new virtual topper users.

Note: If we all intend to share our topper collections, it would be best that we standardise the amount of screen area used (topper screens are partially hidden in or behind the top box – Please feel free to use my images as a positional guide for the mounting of your topper screen)

        This looks very cool!
I’m not sure if someone will call a Dr. here, when I start mounting a 4th screen to my cab :-)

Cool stuff, spent the morning figuring out how to do this with just a clear glass topper instead of a monitor sticking up… thinking rear projection film… clear oled panel…

Yeah there are some new technology screens coming that will be perfect for this. I would love a clear panel up there that I could bend in a curve towards the player position.

How do you change these with the game?

The images are fed to the topper using PBX’s /DMD Images folder. The videos are fed from the /DMD Videos folder.  So just place them in those folders, name them the same as your tables and PBX does the rest.

The only downside as I have mentioned, is that you can’t have the images go to both the Topper screen and DMD screen at the same time.  I have placed a generic DMD image as my Windows desktop and it displays during PBX’s menu mode so that the DMD is not blank.  Once a table is launched, then the DMD acts as normal and of course the topper continues to display.

EDIT:  I’m sorry, I just realised they you may have been talking about the cat?  They tend to just change themselves I believe.  ;)

Nope, you answered my question.  Since I don’t use a DMD it should be even easier to setup if I were to do it.

Victory has been added to the topper collection.

Do you need a third screen for toppers? Or can they be integrated into a two screen setup?

Unless you had a wedge design cab and used 2 x 40 inch screens and allowed the back screen to poke through the top (rather than hide the excess in the bottom cab), I don’t think you would have the real estate for effective display on a regular landscape 16:9 backglass screen.
