Dust extraction and depth cuts are important. Most definitely needs better hold down

March 6, 2018 at 11:17 pm #78679A buddy of mine has an industrial CNC machine and the base has a sheet of MDF attached to it to act as a sacrifice for cuts through the material being machined. He starts out by running a large mill cutter over the MDF to level it before cutting his material. The suction that holds the work piece in place is so strong that it sucks THROUGH THE MDF to the work piece to hold it in place. He fired it up for me the other day and asked me if I thought I could move the 4 x 8 foot work piece with the suction on through the MDF. I pushed so hard that my feet slid on the floor and I couldn’t budge the piece. I wonder if the PCB is being held down by suction?

March 8, 2018 at 9:23 pm #78886The parts I got so far are the glass, black ball trail molded thing and the screened bezel for display. Besides side art and control panel graphic nothing else is available so I ordered these parts online from various places. I hope to get making cabinet very soon then tackle the play field but first I need to make room for cnc in my shop thinking of making a folding table for it this weekend but will be guessing on footprint as I won’t have cnc for a couple weeks

March 9, 2018 at 7:34 am #78901I was going to ask why randr didn’t just build his own cnc? I mean, if you’re going to do it, right?

March 10, 2018 at 4:57 pm #79198So was thinking….
ill make a work surface for cnc but man what a waste as even though I have a large shop it will be only for cnc so….
im making the surface fold away and take up only 18-20” wide when not in use then I can roll thing out flip up and cnc will be ready to go. But then the thing can flip again and be nothing but a blank workspace!
Here is the start of this project in my messy shop
more pictures to come and will make more sense
