  • This project started with that I wanted to try to make a table. I saw a request for resources from Kalavera for Algar and contacted him asking if he had received any and the status on his project. I decided then to just start and see where it would end. Some revisions later Kalavera had some updates to the playfield and then I decided that I should at least make a finished table for everyone to enjoy. So, files started flying over the internet between Norway and Argentina.

We are both novices and it shows. You will notice that some elements isn't aligned 100% with the playfield. The reason is that I refuse to make the table from the old playfield pictures and instead use the blueprints from the manual. How exact these are is a good question. After releasing this I have greater admiration for the work you 'real' authors do.

Algar is the big brother of Gorgar. I feel that the table itself hasn't been given the love that it deserves. We've provided a db2s and some wheel images to make it easier for you guys. But, you should know that Wildman has made a great db2s and there might be better wheels available too.

Special thanks goes to previous authors of this tables : Practicedummy, UncleWilly, LuvThatApex and Kristian.

Desktop background I stole from Batch. I'm sure he doesn't mind. Various other parts by Flupper, GtxJoe, Bord, Dark and possible someone I've forgotten. Sorry if that is the case. I even managed to make my own prims, Thank you Fren for the Youtube video.

This table is released, open for everyone to improve without asking for permissions from me or Kalavera. We would however appreciate if we got mentioned, but it is not a requirement.

    Thank you Kalavera !

    1.0 : Initial release

1.1 : Please note: This version requires 10.5 to work as expected.

    • Some light changes by Hauntfreaks.
    • More playfield cleanup, and new DT backdrop by Kalavera.
    • Sidecab and back improvements for DT users by Batch.
    • Awesome metal guide reflections and small changes here and there by Bord.
    • Faster coil ramp-up requested by Stat.
    • A few additional changes by Thalamus.

    1.2 : Some SSF improvements.

1.2.1 : Forum user Vogliadicane added lights linked from the rom to the fill-in image.

    1.2.2 : Updates from Kalavera.

1.3.3 : Different physics, now uses JPSalas low friction. Replaced post from Bord, not accurate, but closer to the used ones. Playfield mesh. LUT selector. Some light changes, fixed and improved shadows. Improved SSF sound. Playing around in blender without knowing what I'm doing - generally. And more I don't remember. Might be that someone likes it better, maybe it plays a bit too easy now.

      Thank you Thalamus and Kalavera!!!

      Really looks great my friends!!

You don’t realize what all that goes into these tables, until you start messing with them.

Then the addiction sets in, and you wont be able to stop working on these tables!!

I hope we see alot more of your work in future!!!

You guys did a fantastic job!!

You should both be very proud of your first table creation!!!

      Carry on.

The first one is the hardest and after that they get easier, I’m looking forward to giving this a good try out a little later.

Thanks guys plays very well. They featured Algar on PAPAtv live a few weeks ago and  seemed challenging so nice to be able to play it now in VPX. Good work.

Fun and challenging table especially that right sided drain lane.  The PAPA video was nice to watch so see what to shoot for and where the problem areas are.  Nice job!

Yes. It is a really hard machine. Actually. I found the best information for this machine from an old TNT video. This explains in more details the features this table has.

We still haven’t been able to find a better playfield image unfortunately. People running in Desktop mode will probably notice best the changes made to this table. Bord gave it a much needed facelift with his rendered metal rails and Hauntfreaks did some light work. Thank you all who contributed ( see release info for details ).

Yeah! Go Thalamus :). Now you really make me want to build a table and not stay behind ;). Thanks for this big brother of Gorgar, tonight I will try to make the 1M mark!

P.S. who is KORA? The nice lady on the right :)?

@senseless : Please let me know if you do. I have been close several times, but, still not done it myself.

Oh. and – Kristian wrote this about the table a long time ago.

“The table is one of the strangest Williams tables. It’s supposed to be some kind of love story? between Algar (the lion man) and Kora the Dragon (or whatever she is). Weird artwork, weird sounds, weird table – but all these vintage Williams tables are great.”

I expected to just quickly test this to make sure it worked and after I saw how nice it played I just couldn’t stop until I cracked a million. Really a lot of fun, excellent work!

I can see how this design was greenlit for production, because with fresh parts and everything working, the geometry is interesting and fun so I bet whitewoods shot pretty well. It would be interesting to build this layout again with modern hardware.

      Thanks again!  :good:

@vogliadicane gave me a mod where he added rom controlled lights to the fill-in image we’ve added on top of this table. I found it to be a neat idea and he ok’ me sharing it as v1.2.1. Thank you very much.
