I started Torch after doing Close Encounters, because roto-target.  I then got side tracked with Nobs, real Nobs, Bubba Hollywood, and well frankly forgot where I was with this.  So today I got some top arch pictures from FortyTwo on pinside (thanks!) who is parting out a real one and decided to spend a little time getting this together.  I made a quick db2s from an image I liked and included it or you can use one from vpu which I'm guessing is a Wildman production.  There are a couple options at the top of the script for turning ball and flipper shadows on or off and for selecting some tone or chime sounds (the dof config will play your chimes if you have them).  I also included a nvram file that has the replay scores set to match the image on the apron, otherwise they are 0. press F6 as usual for the dip switch options.  looking for feedback on things I've missed or could be improved (which I'm sure is many)   Read More

Version 2.1 Forgot to shut of sw71 timer during Multi-Ball drain. (10 seconds after any ball drain, and the attract sounds start. So attract sounds were starting before last ball drain on Multi-Ball. It is fixed now.)   Version 2.0 Added 26 sound effects. All of these sound effects are played through backglass instead of table per Vogliadicanes info. Including 3 background music sound effects triggered from plunger pull,(3 different versions of same song.), and an Inspector background music sound effect triggered by upper left and right kickers. 4 other background music sound effects are played during attract mode. Added "plungerreleasefree" sound effect from BorgDogs Buck Rogers VPX table, so if no ball is in plunger lane, it plays the "plungerreleasefree" sound effect. Added some Subs BIP, ICML, ICMR, xxx, yyy, zzz with different variables, so no background music sound effects are triggered by plungerpull unless Ball is in Play, and no balls are locked.(This allows the Inspector background music sound effect to continue playing when ball is locked, and next ball is shot from plunger.) Also this helps during Multi-Ball drains so background music sound effect is not altered until last ball drain during Multi-Ball. Starting Plunger sound effect is played when ball enters plunger lane,(If ball is not locked.) If plunger is not pulled within 2 cycles of sound effect, (30 seconds.), 1 of 2 random "mad people voices" is activated for 1 cycle,(15 seconds.) If plunger is still not pulled, it will trigger a snoring sound effect for 2 cycles and then starts over from the "mad people voices" cycle. ROM sounds are turned off by default at table start, and turned back on when table exits. (This way if you have another Pink Panther table that uses same rom, rom sounds will not be effected.) Added to script so you can change LED's to blue, pink, or regular orange.(They are blue by default. I tried to make it the same color as LED's on apron.) On table exit, LED's are set back to regular orange. (This way if you have another Pink Panther table that doesn't have the same LED's colors scripted in, it won't change them.) Added DT Backdrop pic. I used pic from HauntFreaks dB2S Backglass Illuminated Image. Requires the latest VPX 10.4 beta. Added coin sound effect to 3 key. Version 1.1a Noticed "Drain" sound effect was missing from sound manager, so I added it to sound manager from another table. (It was hard to catch this as you could only tell after last ball drain.) Also fixed script so coin is heard on coin insert.(There was not a coin sound effect named "coin" that the script was calling for. So I just changed to "Coin3" as there were 2 different coin sound effects already in the sound manager.) Scottacus helped fix the script for DT view objects to disappear when in FS mode. (If you ran FS view without B2s, the objects didn't disappear as per Scotts info.) BIG THANKS!! I added GI lights to Buck Rogers Logo and pic on left side of DT backdrop. Scottacus came up with working TILT sound effects script!! BIG THANKS!! (I will learn this if it kills me!!) 1 of 4 sound effects will be played when you TILT table. I Added 133 sound effects triggered by events. All of these sound effects are played through backglass instead of table per Vogliadicanes info. There are 4 background music sound effects triggered by plunger.(From actual Movie.) There are 2 other background music sound effects that are not triggered by plunger. 1 is triggered by hitting upper kicker. (1 in 16 chance of triggering it.) Twiggy says "Get Down Groovy" and a groovy song is played.(One from actual movie.) The other background music sound effect is only played during attract mode after losing a game. (This is the song that was played at end of tv show. It sounds corny, but true Buck Rogers fans will appreciate it.) You will need to hit F6 to bring up the Dipswitch Menu, and turn off ROM scoring sounds. (Or use the nvram I included with download.) Copy the nvram to your nvram folder where Visual Pinball is installed. I couldn't seem to shut off the ROM sounds and have them turn back on with table exit like other sound mods I have released. So you will need to turn off these sounds with either method above. BorgDog has made this in Portrait Mode. Cyclone (Williams 1988) for VPX 10.4 beta + Started with Melons very nice VP9 table. Still has some images, sounds and script bits from that table, but not much is left. I did my best to make the ramps!  But... they weren't great. So as you can probably tell by the screenshots, I hooked up with @Flupper and he just did them all over again, but great this time, plus some shadow work! Also included is @Wildman B2S file, but it has been modified to work with this particular table (thanks to @Westworld at VPU for info on how to do that). And for you crook-necked cab users, there is a POV file from @Hauntfreaks that you can import for landscape rotation. Only a lastly, there is one small bug in the table that isn't that important. Occasionally on the Ferris wheel the ball may 'miss' getting picked up in the correct spot, but it will get picked up in the next 'seat'.   Read More

Q*bert's Quest (Gottlieb 1983) Here is a strange table from Gottlieb. They were definitely thinking out of the box during this era. Q*bert's Quest features four flippers and a figure eight layout. Gameplay is pretty straightforward: complete pyramids and stop the bad guys. Resources were all redrawn from scratch for this version. I recommend entering the F6 menu and changing Game Mode to extra ball. Enjoy!   Read More

Pink Panther (Gottlieb 1981) This was the third table I ever built. It sat mostly finished on mothballs for more than a year until Hauntfreaks offered to do his thing on materials and lighting. That lit the fire to get it done. So here it is (finally), a System 80 widebody featuring the Pink Panther and some nefarious blonde jewel thief. Completing each bank of drop targets lights a ball lock. Two locked balls begins multiball, which starts an alternate scoring mode where you collect jewels. These jewels are scored separately on the backglass. Hauntfreaks also created a brand new B2S for the table, included in the .zip file. Wheel of Fortune  (Stern 2007) This is a mod of a VP9 Wheel of Fortune table from an unknown author.  It was updated by Dozer to include a spinning wheel primitive and other tweaks.   The table was then converted to VPX by another author who had requested to remain anonymous, and myself.   Ninuzzu then took our work, re-built the table with proper dimensions and added lots of the beautiful primitives, physics and more.   Tom tower did the bobble head primitives. Space Invaders (Bally 1979) Features: Both FSS and FS tables, 3K playfield, 2K backglass, day and night user controls.   A big thanks to unclewilly for his VP9 version that made this conversion a snap, An even bigger thanks to Haunt Freaks for the B2S, POV, and his front end graphix work. OXO (Williams 1973)   OXO is a Williams tic-tac-toe table that has fun game play and excellent shots coupled with awesome Christian Marche artwork.  The basic premise is to achieve a tic-tac-toe with either X's or O's and then land the ball in either saucer for a 5000 point bonus and an extra ball.  Lighting all of the tic-tac-toe squares will enable a replay special with either the left or right middle roll overs.   HauntFreaks has pulled out all of the stops on this one!  His artwork is incredible and the details that he added like primitive cut outs for the targets and leaf switches really enhance the table.  He has also made a new B2S backglass for the table that will also be available to download which also also has third monitor DMD artwork.   This table has a few new features to it that include full integration of DOF for those who have chime units as well as a new (at least for my tables) post-it note with the ablility to enter initials.   There are three user variables that can be altered to change the playing epxperience.  They are all located near the top of the script and include:   FreePlay - set to True for free play or False if you want to coint up ShowBallShadow - set to True to turn on to enable ball shadows or to False to to deactivate them PinkFLipperColor- set to True to use pink rubbers on the flippers or set to False to use white rubbers.   Here's the tean that brought you this table Script: Scottacus Artwork: Hauntfreaks Beta Testing: Xenonph and Thalamus Chime Testing: Bord   Special thanks to Fren for his excellent VP9 OXO table that got this whole project started!   Read More

Surround Sound Mod for VPX 10.4 To realise the directional sound effects VPX 10.4 and a surround sound equipped cab is required. Standard cabs should play with enhanced left/right sound separation for many table objects. To realise the benefits of both directional sound AND an “enhanced” level of tactile feedback, a cab equipped tactile audio exciters is recommended. Check the original table for more info. I'm sure alot of time and effort went into making this table, and it is deeply appreciated, so all credit should be directed gtxjoe's way. I also would like to thank Steve "Slydog43" for which these VPX mods would not be possible!! Version 1.1 Added timers to sound effects. Added different sound effects and deleted some old bad ones. (Went from over 40 to over 70 sound effects.) A couple of background music sound effects were very hard to find. I wanted to add 16 different background music sound effects, but as it is with about 4, the size is 150MB!! And alot of them didnt seem to fit the table atmosphere. The very last episode of this cartoon series was "Revolt from the 5th Dimension". It has some spacey music and trippy visuals. The actual name of the background music played in that episode was "LSD"!! (It didn't fit table atmosphere!!) When I originally started this mod, I wanted to make a sound effects mod. Then I noticed a few nicks and chips in paint, and signs of wear on the playfield. (I know others like to have the chips and faded playfield. More realistic they say. You can download the original table if you don't like the cleaned up playfield.) So I decided to try and get rid of all that and to try and brighten some of the existing colors. 4 days later I had completed my touch up of playfield. Then noticed the BG for the DT version in VPX. It also had chips of paint missing. So I decided to clean up the BG too. You probably won't notice much change, unless you have both playfield pics new and old, side by side. Then you will see I actually put alot of time and effort into this. I also changed color of the faded green lights to blue like the IPDB pics. Only thing besides the playfield touch-up I did, was made the radius of red skirting below bumpers smaller, like the pics on IPDB, and reshaped the upper plastic wall so it would fit under the upper plastic and increased the bottom and top height so you can't see the through it while in DT mode. On the Fantasy version I added new bumper images and 13 new BG images to choose from. I added over 40 sound effects all from the 1967 cartoon series of Spider-Man, triggered by quarter, plunger pull, upper 3 kickers, all rollovers, spinner, and drain. This is a mod, with permission, of jferio's Solar Ride posted on VPF and VPU. Started mainly to fix the playfield to be proper size and position, and did lots of other scripting, graphical and object changes/updates with much help from hauntfreaks and sliderpoint. There are a few options at the top of the script for turning on ball and flipper shadows and changing flipper rubber color. zip includes solaride.nv nvram file that sets the replay values to match the score cards. place in vpinmamenvram folder, as usual press F6 to change some of the rom options Has the surround sound scripting. and has nfozzy's fastflips scripting so thanks nfozzy and the vpdev team of toxie and fuzzel As always anyone is free to do whatever they want with the files I post.       Read More

Gottlieb's 1978 Close Encounters, solid state version, continues my collection of system 1 tables.  I happened to pick up a Close Encounters parts cabinet that included a somewhat warped playfield in otherwise decent shape that I stripped down and scanned for the starting point for this. Includes, nfozzy's FastFlips flippers, rothbauerw's Ball Control script, ninuzzu's ball shadow routine (turn on or off at top of script, off by default), some logic and sound effect (roto target movement) from pinuck's vp9 table, and vp10.4 surround sound scripting. File includes an nvram file that sets the replay values to what is shown on the cards, place in vpinmamenvram folder.  Note, this is also set for extra ball play, so while the desktop and backglass will show "Number to Match" the display won't show match numbers as they are not in effect in add-a-ball mode. I could have scripted around that, but I checked my real system 1 machines and the Number to Match light is wired directly with the Game Over light, and does the same thing. Thanks to hauntfreaks for some primitive and graphics work and play testing. Had fun making the roto target primitives and getting it all to work and animate.  It's actually 15 seperate primitives all rotating together so that I could animate the individual ones when hit.   Read More

my first table. this is a heavy mod based on 32assassin's great Fathom, which is based on Unclewilly's version, so all credits and thanks go to these two. What I did: - completely remade playfield in 4k resolution (by stitching images from the web and partially redrawing, even bought a font for that job!) - completely remade plastics in 4k resolution (same way) - made new bumper caps from scratch - reworked or changed many objects, images and materials - completely remade all lights and illumination - apron reworked - "live" mirror metal wall at the top (only the ball is not reflected, don't know, how to do that) - and many other things, I don't remember anymore Physics (only minor changes): - made the table slightly slower - ! repositioned the rubber posts at the wicked vertical outlane, so that there's at least a small chance so save the ball from draining by nudging ! Btw, this is also the case for the real table as seen in videos on the web, so no cheating. The aim of this version was to get it as close to the original vintage table (yellow tint, vintage light bulbs a.s.o) As I already mentiond in the WIP thread, I will also make a second version, which will look like a polished Fathom with LED lights, plastics and playfield repros a.s.o. The desktop view needs a liitle more work, but is already quite ok now. Maybe I'll release an update in the future.
