  • Puts the DMD behind a glass-grill combination. It's fully customizable. You can use my templates or make your own "real" looking pinball-grills.

It's only usefull for 2 screen-setups without cabinet. I use only VPX-tables with vpinmame, nothing else tested.

NEW in v.1.2: added Pinball FX3 support.

NEW: Support for freezys DmdDevice.dll (it's beta, please test it)

All infos at the project-page ...

Extract the zip and start the DMDOverlay with admin privileges. (They are needed for analyzing the VPX window-processes.)

Since v.1.3: Extract the NAudio.dll into the directory of DMDOverlay.exe.

Info: The volume-controll consumpts some cpu-power. If you dont't want this, please set both audio-devices to "none".

    1.0: initial

1.1: added Fileselect dialog, added debug info for zindex

1.2: added Pinball FX3 support (cabinet support activated)

1.2.1: Bugfix for wrong Pinball FX3 setting

1.3: Volume-display for two selectable soundcards. Multi-Screen support: You can setup your own x-pos and grill-width.

1.3.1: Bugfix for long dmd-window-names like "Pirates of the Caribbean (V6.0 German, French)". They were not read correctly from ini-file.

    1.3.2: missing audio.dll included

1.4: Support for freezys DmdDevice.dll (it's beta, please test it). I prefer vpinmame but some people have asked for it.

1.4.1: Support for large inifiles with 100s of tables

1.4.2: Bugfix: Errormessage if no ini-file exists

Been having a go at setting this up using a Virtual DMD. Everything works ok apart from getting a box outline over my DMD when its behind the glass. (see image) Its as if its part of the glass as DMD is fine when you move it away

      Hey @Shaker,

I can’t see your “image”. Sometimes the backmask works not in preview while the settings window is shown. If you close the settings window, the backmask will show correctly. If not, you can try to set the “Backmask” to “0”.

thank you for your little software. It’s a great Addon for some tables. Can i suggest to add an option to change the color of the ‘glass’ reflect (glass tab). sometime the base color of the DMD is not the red/orange standard, and it will be great if we can change the reflect color to follow this base color.

If you use Vpinmame and not the “external imagefile”-mode, DMDOverlay uses the vpinmame DMD color. If you use an “external imagefile” the color-effect is in the image. You can see this at my posted screenshots of cactus canyon (yellow at my vpinmame setup) and batman (purple at my vpinmame setup).

Seriously this is good but it needs refineing so it can be used globally, why would i need to go thru every table and rom to set this up, thats just not viable when you have alot of tables

This is for people loving pinball-tables.
You don’t need this, if you don’t want to setup every table with love. ;)

Tipp: You can edit (copy/paste) the ini-file with a texteditor, if you understand the structure and know the romnames.
