  • Twilight Zone Skitso Mod 2.05

The latest release from Team rothborski.

    ---

This has been in works for months and I'm finally happy to introduce it to the community. Since my last version, a lot has happened to this table:

I've made a complete visual overhaul with all the new stuff I've learned since v. 1.5 about a year ago. There's new inserts, new textures, new lights, new shadows, new flashers, a lot of added detail etc. all with a Skitso level of polish and attention to detail you all are accustomed of.

Then there's a completely overhauled, best in class gameplay and physics, by no other than rothbauerw, the king of physics. He also rewrote a lot of the scripting, fixed issues with GI and clock lights, added sounds and offered a lot of support and help in all the ways possible.

Bord also stepped in, providing the table a new mesh playfield, a new ramp model, a new lampshade model and a new scoop model, all top notch quality as usual.

I want to give a huge special thanks to these two gentleman. It's a privilege to be able to work with such talent. Thank you guys!

    CUSTOMIZATION:

The table is FSS and VR ready (active backglass and DMD). To use in VR,  set the VRon option in the script to True. There is also an option for those with dual leaf switches for their flipper buttons.

The goal was to recreate this classic pinball as faithfully as possible. There are some visual mods available to enable in the top part of the script, but they are not part of my artistic vision on this table, so I suggest leaving them off. Also changing POV will mess few lighting effects, so that should not be done unless absolute necessity.

    ---

Thanks for all the updates, I like the idea of keeping the original textures (i’m sure that VPXI will feature real dynamic 3D). If u are worried about the size, ask Hauntfreaks when he returns, cause he did some black magic with the Metallica table, and reduced the size under 1/3 of the original, and at least my eye never saw any difference between the editet images and the originals.

I like a lot all the new additions, but only a few picky details to mention, I think there’s a screw out of place on the plunger ramp, and the yellow bulb on the slot machine, at least with my POV now looks cut. And please don’t get angry with me for sating that, but on my opinion the pyramid purple light looked better on your first released mod than now, but maybe a POV issue again.

If u want, I can share a modified apron image I did to fit the free play option.

Thanks, I’ll check the screw. That yellow pulp on the slot machine is a bit tricky and I’m sure if you change POV, you’ll need to resize it. It’ so small and so close to the slot machine, even small POV changes can break it.

I wanted to make the purple pyramid light more subtle and realistic looking, so I’m not sure I’ll return to the more flashier look old versions had. If you like the older one though, it’s easy to copy from the past versions that are still available to download. :)

@Sven34 :negative: If you have a problem, it doesn’t mean everyone else is. I’m sure the file is fine…

EDIT: are you sure you have a right rom-file? The new version requires a new rom.

U are right, I tried your original POV and nothing cut, pyramid light looks better too (I already adjusted a little the lights/flashers on my file). Thanks.

      1.5 works fine here too.

@Skitso: Wiso can not insert here Ensprechende Rome to the tables, without having to search the Internet for a long time for the Rome. How do I know that the table needs a New Rome, and how should it be called, there are 6 or 7 Rome to the table. Simply link the appropriate Rome here.

Just make your ROM match line 1963 of the script.

Open table … search for cGamename = <here is you answer>

Don’t be just a player. If you don’t change roms from time to time. Your missing a whole lot of fun from this hobby.

In this case. Romset is default 0 so this code gives you ??

      Select Case Romset
      Case 0: cGameName = “tz_94ch”
      Case 1: cGameName = “tz_94h”

Now open google – go and write.

      tz_94ch.zip site:vpuniverse.com

Bam – and you get the rom from the best source we have Carny/VPU.

sven, I’m not quite sure what’s your issue, but finding the correct rom is really not that difficult. Just google it, takes like 2 seconds to find.

At least for me VPX pops an error message that tells me the exact name of the rom that is missing.

Why would you play the old version? It doesn’t even work properly. Could you tell us, what kind of an error message are you getting with 1.5?

I am so sorry Skitso. Can now play her version 1.5. I am very sorry again. Error was displayed after loading the table, in the window now. Goes the table.  I do not know what I did. And why it works now.

You might be running 10.5 – but, you are having script(s), probably in your tables folder efficiently degrading the install. No scripts in tables folder, ever,  is a good rule to keep.

For some reason. I can’t hear any of the backglass audio. All I hear is the table sounds but I don’t hear the Twilight zone guy or anything else. I have the volume all the way up to 31.

I have the same issue.  Did you find a solution?
