Its a good shout although knowing me i will get popper set up and then the tinkering begins… (as you can see i’m already making excuses not to try X)!
Very interesting that you say PinballX is an easier setup as from what i could tell popper seemed more intuitive… and looks much quicker to work with once the basics are done 
Hobby before this was/is getting emulators working with Launchbox so i have that as reference… from what i see popper takes a different approach to LB and i was very intrigued to see that it uses SQL. I don’t know how to script in SQL currently, i know a few basics but am potentially going to be looking at it further (for work related reasons) over the coming years so could be some beautiful synergy there :)
