            I Tested those two files they seemed to be working fine

            The light never Flash is fast on the Teensy?

            Open the log file delete everything that’s in it,  Save the file,  Start a game close the game post that log
            The log above looks like 2 logins Sort of

              In order to get it to flash I need to open up the teensy software, press the button on the teensy, load a hex file, press program, then press reboot.  Once I do that 60 leds light up and stay lit.

               

              I wonder if I need to load a specific hex file in teensy or do something else in the arduino teensyStripController software.

                    Yep, I followed that as well as referenced “Mame in a box’s” Addressable LED video on youTube.  What I found odd was when I was running the basic test, I put in 544 since I have two 144 strips and a 32×8 matrix and that didn’t light all the lights up.  I had to play around with it and found 768 was the number that lit them all up.  So that puts my 144 strips as 191 and my matrix as 386 instead of 256, just odd…right?!?!

                      I just opened teensy and loaded the Beta Hex file and then rebooted my computer.  Deleted the content out of the log file and saved it and opened a table.  This time all the lights came on and stayed on (constant yellow in color).  They are still on right now and will not go out.

                          I did try that and I just tried it again.  The one strip lights up and stays lit the entire game, and continues to stay lit even after you close the game.  It’s still fully lit right now as I’m typing this.

                              I just soldered pin 15 and 16 together on the teensy and it got rid of the constant lit lights.  If I arch pin 14 and 15 together it starts to show some lighting for a brief second, so I tried to solder 14 to 15 also, but that didn’t work.  I ran the test again with 15 and 16 together and the teensy examples still work fine.  I’m running out of ideas.

                                  I did delete everything and saved the file after each time opening the closing the game after each try.  I don’t have a real DMD, I’m using an old Dell monitor for my DMD/Topper screen.

                                  I checked the log file again today and I still see the COM3 being denied in the log.   I tried plugging the Teensy into a differnent usb port and that still didn’t work.  I checked the arduino software and it sees the teensy as com3.  I did realize it has two separate options for the com port.  I assume they are the same and I’ve tried both and both fail.  There is a teensy ports section with the option of “Teensy serial (Teensy 3.2)”, and then there is a serial section that has “Com1” and a “Com3 Teensy”.  The tutorials I read said to select the “Com3 Teensy” option under the serial ports title.  In the cabinet file I have COM3 inserted as the port.  Do I need to change that to say Com3 Teensy?  What would cause the port to be denied?  Again, I can’t thank you enough already for all your continued help on trouble shooting this with me.

                                      From everything you’ve seen so far, are you starting to feel like it is more of a code or hardware issue?  I’m about to buy another teensy and Octo2811 and would hate to find out that I get the same results if I got this route.

                                      I’ve followed all the tutorials and videos several times.  The part that breaks down the Arduino software is vague in the sense that they don’t explain why they are doing what they are doing and it isn’t that straight forward so as soon as I get this working I’m going to create my own start to finish tutorial along with issues you may run into and how to troubleshoot them.  Is there a site that breaks down what to look for in regards to the log file.  I get the warnings…etc, but there isn’t any kind of guide for the normal user that explicitly explains this or points you in the right direction.

                                        When I 1st hooked up my Teensy, I went into device manager and I looked at what com Port it used when I plugged it in and that’s the com Port I used
                                        When I hooked up my stuff I never used any test program, I hook everything up and it worked apparently I was fortunate

                                          I just confirmed from Settings > Devices that when I unplug and then plug it back in, it registers as USB Serial Device (COM3).

                                          So you never used the Arduino software to select what board/port you’re using?

                                           

                                          I’ve been doing a bit of research and some said to change the type to MIDI or anything else to see if it worked and if it did, than something else on the PC was blocking that port.   I change the type to Serial + MIDI and that changed the port to COM4.   Which the system now recognizes in the log file, but at the same time still gets denied.  This is crazy.

                                            Arduino software <—  Is it possible that this after is interfering with it
                                            I have seen other people have a conflict but that was with a real DMD But I have no idea what they did to Solve their problem
