Thanks for the link @bruce, I tried removing the device in settings, but that didn’t work. I tried switching usb ports and usb cables also, still no success.

April 27, 2020 at 8:01 pm #176039No COM Port or Serial Device Seen: Teensy uses HID protocol for uploading, not serial. Brand new Teensy boards are shipped with the LED blink example compiled to appear as RawHID. You must program Teensy at least once from Arduino. The COM port (Windows) or Serial Device (Mac, Linux) appears only after Teensy begins running your program. Regular Arduino boards are always serial. Teensy uses HID and supports many protocols. To use serial, make sure the Tools > USB Type menu is set to “Serial”, and understand Teensy only becomes a serial device when it runs your program built with this setting.
Some info — https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/troubleshoot.html
It seems if you don’t set it up from the Arduino software the first time, com ports may not be properly initialized. I read the end of that thread and the fact that he is getting 2 different com ports (1 and 3) seems either a hardware issue or initialization error.

April 27, 2020 at 11:06 pm #176060@bruce , I’m not sure what I have at this point. I’ve followed Major Frenchy’s video tutorial a few times as well as a few other written ones and for whatever reason my com3 port is being denied. I’ve tried everything I can possibly think of besides ordering a new teensy and octows2811. But if the teensy was the issue would the examples from the arduino not work? Which the examples work perfectly for me, and in the right order. The only odd thing with the arduino examples is I have a total of 544 leds tied together in one long line…but in order to light them all up from the arduino software I have to put in 768 as total leds.  That to me was also a question as to what else might be wrong.

November 24, 2020 at 7:53 pm #212026Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction.  I am looking for a tutorial or video on how to create the effects for addressable LED’s.
I’ve tried to research just about any place I could think of, think I’ve watched TerryRed’s videos a hundred times now.
I am getting close to obtaining all the parts I want for my build.  However, I would like to use addressable LED’s in lieu of The beacons, strobes, and the 5 bar flashers.  Basically, I want to place a 3 row led strip above the back glass monitor.  Then create different effects to mimic each of those items.
Thank you
