      Hey everyone,

long time reader first time poster :)

I’ve been troubleshooting an issue that only happens in popper with FX3. During which I’ve read several threads that have helped me along with nailing down the exact issue. What’s happening was the basic ‘I lose the menu when exiting a FX3 table…’

of course this is solved by running FX3 in borderless window mode, which is the standard setup recommended on nailbusters site. So I switch to borderless and after the table loads it flickers to the desktop momentarily, after which I have no input to FX3. Alt-Tab doesn’t work as after you release to switch, control disappears again.

through various systematic troubleshooting I’ve locked it down to DOFLinx. After the table loads DOFLinx ‘minimizes’ the playfield window momentarily and then I have no control when it comes back. If I close DOFLinx FX3 works fine in popper, and if I run FX3 outside of popper with DOFLinx enabled I don’t see this behavior. If I run FX3 in full screen it works fine in popper with DOFLinx but then of course I lose the menu upon game exit.

I’ve tried adding pauses to the batch file to slow down loading (it’s super fast as i run from an M2 drive with a 9000 series intel) and even tried loading DOFLinx in the batch after starting the FX3 table (with up to a 30 second delay after table launch) and the behavior is consistent.

So at this point I’m stuck with either losing everything but the wheel after exiting FX3, or not using DOFLinx in popper…neither of which are very great….

I’m happy to provide any thing anyone would need to troubleshoot this, for now i’m including my DOFLinx.ini.

**EDIT** renamed ini to txt but won’t let me attach, will mega it if anyone wants to see it.

**EDIT 2** wierder issue with further troubleshooting, if i run ‘windowed’ and not borderless window, everything works fine.

Are you using any directb2s backglassf files with DOFLinx and FX3? If so try removing them all and using just Popper backglass looping videos. Be sure you don’t have the Zen Backglass enabled in Cabinet settings either.

I always had problems with FX3 and directb2s files since way back when I used PBX. Removing the directb2s files got rid of any issues I had with FX2/3 and DOFLinx with any front end.

I also run in Win 10, with any mode in FX3 with no problems….borderless, windowed, fullscreen….all work fine. (Note, that newest Win 10 by default runs “Fullscreen” programs in a new fullscreen mode that acts like Borderless Windowed…even though its still different).

          TerryRed!! Thank you!

it was totally the b2s backglass.

so since i have a direct line to you I want to first, thank you for inspiring me to set up all these toys. all of your table videos made me go ‘i want thaaaaaaat’

second, I have a quick secondary question, in emulator setup there appears to be a section to leave on the screens by default, so you wouldn’t have to do what i just did and put 0,2 in 91 tables….but even though i saved it it didn’t work?

or did it not work because i already had 0 on each table individually before i found that

Yes, what you enter for Keep Displays On in Emulator settings acts as the “default” for all tables in that emulator.

What you enter for Keep Displays On for a table in Games Manager overrides anything that is entered in the Emulator settings. It doesn’t “add” to it.

So if your Emulator settings had 0,2 for example…. and for one of the tables you chose just 2….then only 2 will Stay on for that table, nothing else.
