Hey everyone.
Just like Garlo6 I am a returning member from the past. I have probably been out of the VP scene for close to a couple of years now.
But after seeing what VPX can do now with the graphics and physics I had to get back in. I built my own Frankenstein cabinet many years ago running VP9 tables on an old ATI 5670 video card. I have a newer card on order so I can start enjoying all these great tables soon. I have already dowloaded the all in one installer and have VPX running in desktop mode on my home PC. A far cry from my cabinet work yet to do, but it is a start.
My brother an I collect real pinball machines as well. We currently have the following real games.
AC/DC, Metallica, Game of Thrones, Ghostbusters, Spider-Man, Aerosmith, Whitewater, Twilight Zone, Addams Family, Firepower, Barracora, Hot Tip, Pro Football, Jacks Open and 2001.
We also live stream pinball every Sunday night on Twitch. Feel free to stop in and watch sometime. twitch.tv/thepinballmafia

No, and I don’t see myself being able to afford one in the near future, or parts to build a virtual cabinet. :(
That’s quite a collection @Arcade, and welcome back! I haven’t been around long, so “nice to meet you” would probably be more appropriate for me to say lol

Yep. What do you need.
How close and what angle?

March 8, 2017 at 10:39 pm #50043Thanks for all the compliments on the collection guys. We have owned over 100 pins over the years. The hobby has been good to us. My son was the 2015 Texas state champion and just won the Louisiana state championship this year. He is heading to nationals next week in Dallas.
I started downloading tables even though they are a bit choppy and only in desktop mode, but wow. very impressive stuff so far.
The Walking Deal LE table is killer.
And getting to play a rare game like King Pin is a huge thrill. It is amazing how far along that game was when Capcom shut down.

March 9, 2017 at 12:43 am #50047Yeah we are fortunate to have Kingpin with how few made it into production. ICP and others did a great job on that one.
King Kong is another one.

Woah. Aerosmith? I didn’t even know that was released yet. How does it play?

March 9, 2017 at 5:39 am #50059That’s a pretty great collection of pins you have. Whitewater is going to be or already is in a state of development. It’s always good to know someone with a machine if you’re up to supplying some photos if they’re needed. One of my all time favourite pins. The artwork on the new Aerosmith is amazing. I hope one shows up locally on location as I’d like to put some time on it.
Edit: I see Dark as already asked for photo’s… apparently I should read the whole thread before commenting :) Awesome that you can grab photo’s. The work everyone does around here is so amazing!

March 9, 2017 at 8:06 am #50061Hey can you get me photos of the mountains/rocks on White water?

I have some decent resource pics already but when it comes to making 3D models and sampling textures from photos it really helps to have LOTS of pics from many angles. The priority POV’s are left/right/top/ but other views in between such as 3/4 views are welcome as well.
One frequent problem is lighting and exposure in the photos, they all need to be consistent to one another or they simply won’t blend when sampling them for textures.
So you can see here I have a pic of the collection of rocks with pretty good exposure, it has some highlights and some minor shadowing but for the most part all the textures in the photo are clear and have similar exposure….not too dark and not too bright with glare or flash marks.
I understand you probably won’t want to remove the rocks from the table like they are seen in the picture I have but if you could do your best to follow the guidelines I mention above, I’d appreciate you getting me as many pics as you can tolerate.

No, I have only room for one machine, and I’m happy with it being virtual

Sorry about that. We are in the U.S. Central Time Zone. Same as cities like Chicago, Dallas or Houston.

One last question. Table lights on. Or off?

March 9, 2017 at 5:02 pm #50114Some of the tables such as Metallica LE have a .xml file included.
What is the correct folder for that file?

You don’t need It’s just alternative settings for different pre-set camera perspectives, nothing you can’t do yourself to your own liking in camera mode (f6). There will already be defaults set up for the table, but if the xml has the settings you want, you can import > Backdrop POV

March 13, 2017 at 3:47 am #50481Welcome back to the VP scene and with all the VPX action going on you are not going to regret this. You have indeed a very impressive collection of pins and want to wish your son all the best during the Texas Pinball Festival. I will be at the TPF so maybe we can connect :).

March 21, 2017 at 12:18 am #51003Looking forward to TPF.
We will be there and spend a lot of time in the tourney area.
I sent Dark a ton of photos for the Whitewater table last week so hopefully they will help make the table as great as it deserves to be.
I finally got VPX up and running on my cabinet and it is awesome.
