I like dark only until you start crushing detail. Image 1 loses all of the gradation under the bar and on the left of the image so I would vote against it. Image 2 could still be darkened a bit without crushing everything to black.

    Hi again,

I don’t want to ruin Bord’s ‘Seawitch’ forum with my questions so i’ll post the next one here :

The camera is positioned in an angel from the players view as i’ve understood . What i don’t understand is

how the rendered image fits the exported mesh because this is a rectangle and the rendered image isn’t ?

Importing the wood mesh – image for example in vpx doesn’t give any result (picture) at all.

Sorry Bord but you’ll have to cancel your vacation :-)

Ok, vacation over. Not totally sure what I’m looking at. Top is camera view – looks good. Bottom left looks like a render? What is the bottom right? The UV map?

Shape of the texture isn’t the important part, the mapping happens relative to whatever your texture size/scale/ratio. a 2048×4096 image and a 4096×4096 stretched version of the same image will map to the same places on a mesh.

bottom right is the primitive in vpx     bottom left is rendered wood image

when i select this woodimage for the primitive in vpx i don’t see the wood at all after starting the table

First thing to check is the direction of your face normals in Blender. Make sure they are pointing toward the camera. Second thing to check is to make sure your UV map matches your rendered image.

It looks like you’re missing the ‘Project from view’ UV map on the wood prim!?

Make the camera that you used for the wood render active and hit numpad ‘0’ for the camera view in the viewport. Select the wood prim and go in ‘Edit’ mode. Hit ‘A’ to select all. Hit ‘Project from view’ in the UV-Edit (I’m not at the PC at the moment), exit edit mode and export the wood prim. Import it to VPX and use the wood render as your texture image.

Was that what you were asking for?

Ok one step further but still , after project from view’ the rendered image does not fit

( In vpx the bottom of the image is visible but not the top )

Damnnn this is difficult to learn :-(

Keep at it!  I spent a weekend with Blender a year ago and quickly realized I would have to commit an enormous amount of time just to learn how to accomplish some simple things.  But I found it fascinating and wow – – you are so far along now.  Fun watching this unfold.  Thanks for sharing.  REALLY looking forward to this build.  Some tables, and I think this is one,  are as much fun to watch being created as they are to play!

Looks like the camera moved between rendering and mapping. Your image and outline on the left should line up perfectly.

Still a lot to do : the brackets , plunger ( have problems with the mesh ), lampplastics on apron

and the moving  meshes  :  the cards and the scorewheel      mmmm this will be very hard to do

a helping hand always welcome :-)

I’ll keep you informed with progress

Looking great!  This table has a lot of similarities to Millionaire… maybe someone can leverage your work to build a new version of Millionaire too.
