I agree. Plays far to easy. Don’t know if this is the exact same version that I was given a few days ago. Aborted my game after I got bored on first ball. https://photos.app.goo.gl/8zjfvVJaHpjLjayr6 – at some point I was considering releasing my “physics” mod of this table, I must have played well over 100 games on it and I believe my GC is around 600M now. I might one day release it. Currently it is just a personal wip.

March 18, 2020 at 9:00 am #167786the mod is really nice, but i got a LOT of stutter in this version, it’s near not playable in the bottom third of the screen…
i have no problem with the previous version (non mod) … but i didn’t find the graphics option that is not the same… blind

I haven’t tried this version but I always found the old one by ICP to be really hard (especially compared to previous vp9 versions). Forget what it was exactly but I think it was balls always seem to bounce the wrong way on outlane posts and drain. The real life table is fairly difficult from what I’ve gathered but I always felt that maybe a happier medium could be found.

March 18, 2020 at 10:40 am #167791Outlane drains is really common on BSD yes. Some hate it, and I surely understand why. It often feels unfair, but, in fact, many times they can be avoided or at least reduced by shaking at the correct time. For me, if you nerf them too much, the table becomes dull. Fortunately, it is a easy fix.

March 18, 2020 at 12:33 pm #167806The real one I used to play was incredibly fast and was really hard. I think it was setup for a tournament as 500 mil was difficult to achieve. I felt the original vpx table was far to bouncy compared. I started mucking with the physics as well but could never get it right. Will try this one out tonight. I loved the real table.

March 18, 2020 at 4:21 pm #167831Dumb question……but how do they tweak real tables to make them more difficult? Say for tournament play?

March 18, 2020 at 5:09 pm #167833Apart from software tweaks the biggest physical thing you can do is maximize the playfield angle using the leg levellers. I own three machines and there is a huge difference between an f-14 at 6.2 degrees and one at 7.2 which is about the variation you can get with standard leg levellers. Most tournament locations will set the machines very steep and then turn off ball saves and stuff.
On a side note it’s also amazing what shopping a machine can do. Overhauling the flippers and solenoids, new playfield rubbers and flipper rubbers, a good waxing. When I wax my machines they play so different for about a week.

March 18, 2020 at 5:13 pm #167835Another thing that can really play a difference in difficulty is the playfield setup. I spent about an hour last night tweaking Lane guides and scoop kick-outs to get my new stranger things pinball machine playing well. There were three shots in particular that were causing a ton of unpredictable play. Now that I’ve tweaked the lane guides the orbits are now feeding the flippers and not the slings making that much safer for instance.

March 20, 2020 at 1:06 am #168016Thanks for the mod, it looks really good.
However, I agree that this version is too easy. I killed Dracula on my first try and that is rather difficult on the real table or ICPjuggla/Dozer’s version. I switched back to that because this becomes a little boring after a while. Not that the other would be perfect, there is something weird about that one, especially its flipper handling and how the ball behaves when hit with the tips of the flippers, but still more challenging to master.
Attached is my POV file (works with both versions).

I’d love to see your tweaked version released.

March 20, 2020 at 12:50 pm #168069Yeah. Well. That is me in a nutshell. I tend to play a game, then start to work on it – leave it, come back and do some more all the time. Right now it is in a ugly state but plays close to where I want it and that is not how I want to release it. I’ve shared it with a few and well, as expected, I did get some feedback on things they thought I should change. Most of them have been very good tip, that I will take with me when/if I continue on it. However, if any of you guys that I’ve shared it with, want to continue using my changes. Please feel free to do so. I’m not sure when I’ll pick it up to improve next time.

March 20, 2020 at 2:59 pm #168090I thought I was the only one who thought it was a bit easy. It looks really, really good though. I also dig the new sound…

March 20, 2020 at 10:08 pm #168145Ok, 1.1 is up and is a lot less forgiving. I’ve been waiting for any other issues to surface before rushing to update. I’ve been conscious of not going too far with the difficulty, but you can crank-up the game difficulty from 50 to 100 for extra challenge :)

March 20, 2020 at 10:47 pm #168147I really like how great it looks, but One thing I’d like to mention, the ssf is soo much weaker on this one then before the mods. I wish you could combine both worlds. but seriously though looks great.

March 20, 2020 at 11:54 pm #168148Thanks for the work on this. One of my favorite machines to play.
I think there is a plastic mold missing on the right above the alter shot though. I believe it is on the original so maybe just hidden or something?

March 21, 2020 at 8:33 am #168201Going to download now. Hope I like the changes. I thought your first version played well..a little easy?..yes, but is still a lot of fun. Not all tables need to be so brutally hard..especially when you have friends over who are not as skilled in pinball.

I set the night->day cycle to the second mark from all the way to the left, applied my POV, and this is the one I’m playing now.
