Introducing The Clash! “The Only Band That Matters.”
This is a re-theme of “Rock Encore” by JPSalas, gratefully modded with permission. So much great music in the 80s, this table was begging for a re-do. Thanks to JP for doing the heavy lifting here, and Inkochnito for his scripting additions.
“The Clash” was not possible without the brilliant work of: Xenonph, who did the audio scripting for me, and made some awesome changes to my effects. Thalamus, for adding SSF. Schreibi34, for the lighting tutorial. Scottywic and Bord, for making the shaped lighting on the drop target bank work. Flupper1, for letting me use his post meshes. Carny, for adding the “clash.zip” ROM to SAMBuild. Randr for adding The Clash to the DOF Config Tool. And finally, thanks to all the punks who provided input during beta testing!
The “SSF” zip file contains the table and directb2s file. “clash.zip” is the modded ROM, included in the latest SAMbuild, and the Music folder for the game.
Darling, you’ve got to let me know #1: The ROM on JP’s table was “rock” … so I used the “rock_enc” ROM so I could change the wording on the scoring display. If you use this modified ROM on your Rock Encore game, it will change the language from “Rock & Roll Lives” to “This is Radio Clash”.
Darling, you’ve got to let me know #2. This uses 19 music tracks so the game eats up about 115MB of HD space. I plan to release an EP version with only 5 or 6 songs, so people who aren’t big fans of The Clash, and don’t want to tie up HD space, can have a “light” version.
NOTE: Distribution of this table, b2s file, or music on a computer, virtual pinball machine or any similar device, which is SOLD as part of a commercial product, or sharing this file on a website, or via a file transfer process, without my permission is strictly prohibited. Support the community by not selling VPX work on commercial purposes. The Clash music library is administered by Universal Music Publishing Group UK.Â

September 15, 2018 at 1:07 am #98224Everything about this is excellent, except that it didn’t come with a wheel image! (Not that it was hard to find one) You have made this table far more enjoyable!

September 15, 2018 at 10:58 am #98254Awesome. Think I’ll swap out the mp3s with high resolution wav files and really turn it up. Great work!

September 15, 2018 at 12:50 pm #98263Bord, that’s great. at 100mb I was concerned people would freak out if I made the thing bigger so I deliberately stuck to 128 sound quality to keep file sizes down.

September 15, 2018 at 1:35 pm #98264@onevox : I think the choice of keeping it “small” is preferable. My HD at least thanks you

A transparent background and it would look good.

September 15, 2018 at 2:02 pm #98269Great retheme of a table! I have a question about the rock_enc rom for this table. There are 2 slingshots near the top of the table that don’t fire DOF solenoids. I checked the DOF config tool but I don’t see rock_enc listed as an option.
Is there a way to get these slingshot solenoids to fire using the rock_enc rom? Thanks.

September 15, 2018 at 2:57 pm #98276@Scooby : Open up the
tablemapping.xmlfile correction – directoutput*ini – copy the entry for the other rom and your done.Guys. I’ve said it a few times that I would prefer that sound mods do more than just slam some new music on a table. Well, I’ve now seen more than one table where I’ve been proven wrong. “Beach Bums” and “Bubba the Redneck Warewulf” is just a few of them where I would call it a total success. And this maybe is a favourite of them all because the music really hits home.
In this case. I know that I’ll be revisiting the mod instead of the real table. Not that JP did make a good table. But, this is a so very well done.
Thanks a bunch guys – back to playing !

Oh yeah, I would have done the same for sure. I’ve got some nice sounding 24bit vinyl transfers that are only icing on the cake. Thanks again for your work on this.

September 15, 2018 at 7:55 pm #98302Some reports of scoring not showing up on third screen. Mine is ok at 2 and 3 screen settings. Â Can anyone report scoring working ok on 2 or 3 screen setup? And on real DMD?

September 16, 2018 at 3:42 am #98312Everything worked out correctly here by default. Score is shown both in db2s and in my pindmd3. I of course can tell it not to be seen in my “real dmd” by disabling “use external” in this case.
Update: I was so occupied playing that I didn’t really notice that my pindmd3 didn’t show scores. Well, I don’t want it to. Going to replace it with a avi video soon.

September 16, 2018 at 7:05 am #98314Hello. Thanks for the very nice table. I’m a Clash fan so I can’t stop playing.
Why the table does not launch from Pinball X ? I’m the only one to experience that issue ?
Thanks for your reply
Bye.
