I love this table…..just plain georgous!
Those ramps are incredible…..love the sharpness of the playfield and the bright vivid colors. You really nailed it with the sounds of the ball hitting the rubbers and what not. I don’t have DOF but my subwoofer speaker in the cabinet replicates the sound so well you can actually feel the thump as the ball hits the rubbers. Perfect in every way!
Thanks….
PS: also love your Cyclone table and have played that to death as well! You need to login in order to like this post: click here
January 20, 2018 at 5:22 pm #74944Didn’t think you could outdo your Cyclone, Mike, but you’ve done it!
So much to love!
Million Shot Ramp — Love the way the ball swirls around the hoops when it has a lot of spin. So realistic!
Left Orange Ramp — You need a really solid shot to make it up and around. Keeps this table addictive! Feels great when you nail it. Kills ya when you half-Ramp!
Insert Lights — Great contrast between not lit and lit. Realistic flashing (is it stepped? Seems to have a fast fade routine. Very nice). You can practically see the bulbs beneath the playfield.
Rails — I turn these on even in my cab. Love the lighting you added to them.
Sidewall Illumination — As a spoiled end user, this is one feature I’m often requesting. Hope I’m not bugging! The sidewalls look absolutely beautiful here. Love that they flash on and off with the GI. If you’re on a cab, at least take a look at them once. So sweet!
Woodgrain in Shooter Lane — So nice! Wish I had a floor made out of this stuff!
Incandescent GI Quality — Mike, you have a seriously great eye for this. Just the right amount of orange and yellow. Compares really well with pics and my own real life experience with the pin.
Mechanical Sounds — Every surface has a satisfying clunk, bump, or clink. Really adds to the real world feel. I feel like the ball could dent this thing!
Shooting Gallery Gate — Such detail. You can even see the little counter weight rocking back and forth. Geek stuff!
A Comet popped up locally a few years ago for a grand. I was all set to buy it. My then five year old threw a fit, because Python Angelou’s backglass (HauntGlass?) really frightened him. And it is spooky indeed! I’ve always kicked myself for not just buying it and throwing a towel over it or something. Until now! Thanks “a million shot” Mike!

January 21, 2018 at 11:45 am #75015I agree with Ben, so many great details.
Sliderpoint, I don’t know how much work it is but do you have any plans to add some of these awesome plastic ramp sounds like you did for cyclone?

January 21, 2018 at 2:34 pm #75032The Cyclone ramps are deliberately zig-zaggy and make a lot of noise. This one is pretty smooth and doesn’t make a lot of sound. But, I’ll see what I can come up with that works well.

-MikeI have added the new raised ramp rolling ball and the scheduled bump script to my personal copy. These keep a modified (pitch & vol) ball rolling sound tracking in full surround sound while on the ramps (in stereo on non-surround cabs) and apply the ramp bumps in real time in a reactive way to what the ball is actually doing. I’m happy to send you a copy if you are interested.

I have an update about ready, but I’d really like to see your sound script to see how it is creating bumps and what not. Please send me a link!
Thanks!

January 23, 2018 at 1:10 am #75120Since I haven’t played this table irl ( or maybe I did and forgot ? – lol ), I can’t say. But, it feel real – that I know. Very nice Mike. Love it.

January 23, 2018 at 9:46 am #75146I played it last night for about an hour, plays just about as close to perfect as I can imagine. I am not a fan of the real table yet one again, playing an excellent recreation can lead to an appreciation of the real thing. I’m now going to give the original a try next time I see it in the wild.

January 23, 2018 at 11:05 am #75147This is a really cool looking and well done, beautiful table. As for the original, I don’t know it myself but I can’t imagine many people wanting to put quarters in it, holy drainage hell!

January 30, 2018 at 1:04 pm #75513From the first release I also thought the awsome sidewalls should be visible in my cab, which I did. I also made some changes to the image SidewallsEarlySSOn (reflections more parallel to the backwall), which give much more depth to the FS view, at least to my opinion. See screenshot.
Never tested the DT view.
I sent it to slider, but he meant why not post it here so you guys can check it out yourself. So here it is:
