Are the two spheres with the forest hdri and white your environment lighting?
The two spheres that you see in material view are only relevant while in material view. You can change to other matcaps to help visualize your topography. This one is pretty neutral. My environment image is a low saturation hdri. Not even sure which one I am using for Seawitch, tbh.

June 2, 2020 at 8:11 pm #184145This may be the best reference for table building period! Problem is you move so fast with shortcut keys I’m not able to follow very easily but will be referencing this thread many times I’m sure. Thanks @bord for taking the time to explain and show how this is done!

Thanks, @randr! Definitely a balancing act between explaining everything and actually finishing. If anyone ever wants any individual part done in more depth I am happy to revisit it as a proper tutorial.

I’m not any more excited about this being 25 minutes than you are. Couldn’t find a good break point so here is the whole thing. Sorry!

June 3, 2020 at 2:27 pm #184286Sorry for the ignorance here but why do you have to resize the parts is this because there isnt an upper limit like glass to hold the ball in place?

Really good question, @osujd. You nailed it. It is a safety precaution in case there is a wayward ball. Games with ramps would have to be treated differently but exaggerating the physical boundaries is an insurance policy. If you turn on visibility for the physical spiral ramp on PinBot you’ll see boundaries that would be 8ft off the ground in real life. The ball really wanted to climb out of the spiral so I had to increase the height of the fence. Stretching these meshes doesn’t add any geometry so it is inexpensive compared to creating physical geometry for plastics and outer walls where the ball in theory is never supposed to go.

June 3, 2020 at 4:14 pm #184299The Pin Bot ramp was pretty funny. I remember testing the table plunged the ball a little too hard and it vanished off the top of the table, never to be see again. It was crazy how high you had to make the walls walls to prevent this from happening. The amount of work you put into these tables is staggering.
Once again great job on the video but unfortunately your Screencast for keys was turned off for Blender so you’ll have to re-shoot it

If I have this mapped out correctly the project will end at the 40th installment. Getting close.

Fascinating stuff @bord. Got 1000% more respect for what you do to make things look the way you do in VPX. Gonna need more coffee.
