@italianbeef if u look into the script:

U can do a search for this tag “Const cGameName”. In this case line 210 (usually after global options) -> Const cGameName=”diner_l4″

Darn. That combination doesn’t work for me. :(

Thanks for trying to help, tho.

Make sure your vbs files are only in the Scripts folder not the tables folder

Make sure you have the latest software installed

I’ve started to refer to this site for VPX download since for noobs it is confusing the naming used over at VPF. You kind of need to tell them what sub version to pick.

This is the vpx version you want : https://vpinball.com/VPBdownloads/vpx-installer-10-5-0/

    I FOUND MY PROBLEM!

“Force exclusive fullscreen mode” was causing some of my tables to crash at startup.

    Wow – what an oddity.

Those tables that do crash has ddraw = 1 in registry. You need to changed that. The easiest way is to – start registry editor. This is for something else but a good read for you anyway. https://vpinball.com/wiki/visual-pinball-knowledge-base/turning-onoff-at91jit/ as it explains just enough about the registry editor itself.

Navigate to Freeware as described. Right click and choose export. Name it Freeware.reg – then open it in a regular text editor. And do a search/replace of ddraw so it becomes 0 for every rom. Save file – double click and you are now asked you if you want to import with a warning. Choose yes and your done. Keep the Freeware.reg as a backup somewhere. It is very useful to take regular copies of that hive in case you need to re-install some day. So, make this a habit or automate it some way :)

Thank you! Two quick questions if you don’t mind:

    • Is there a reason to do this vs just disabling “force exlusive screen mode”?
    • Some of the DMDs in the tables that previously did not work are too large – would you know if it’s possible to make them smaller? (I’m running on a desktop 1920×1200)

    Thank you so much!

Force exclusive has performance benefits and is generally recommended because of that.

Your dmd questions is kind of two fold. You should probably look at Terry’s video and implement freezy as you can set it once and disable the one that comes from vpinmame. https://vpinball.com/wiki/visual-pinball-knowledge-base/first-time-installation-of-visual-pinball/

Interesting: if I turn on force exclusive full screen mode and set the registry setting in the game to 0, the game works fine but the DMD disappears. I’ll explore the link you send to Terry’s video.

[UPDATE] Oh – I see. The DMD displays in a separate window behind the main display.

Yeah. Well. As a desktop user things are kind of different if you have only one monitor. You could consider running windowed – not to full resolution of your screen and then put a db2s “outside” of the main window. Endless possibilities. Never the less. Terrys video is good for anyone as it touches a whole range of areas where people struggle.

Even though this release is getting on 3yrs ago, this to me still stands as one of the more graphically, true to life physics vpx tables to date. Very thankful  for your hard work.  and love of pinball that we share.  :good:

I fired this one up last night, and noticed when the right flipper is in the up position, the serve again color changes on the field.  Any ideas on this?  It doesn’t change game play, just something I noticed .

I am just getting into VPX; but I have loaded about 60 tables and I can easily say this is one of/if not the/ best looking and playing tables I’ve got set up. The attention to detail and the way you make the clear ramps really stand out. Keep up the good work, and please keep making tables. I have you bookmarked in my Favorite Artists folder  :good:
