Roccodimarco did a great job last night transferring the image over to the new wood for me. Now I am cleaning it up, finishing inserts, alignment, and font.
I did find two pics of different playfields though, check out around the bumpers… Thalamus since you requested, you choose!

June 21, 2019 at 8:00 pm #133400June 22, 2019 at 1:54 am #133423ok, I think I am at the point where I need some help. I got the PF mostly populated. I used Pinplayers Fun-fest at his recommendation. anything from his table that I didn’t use I moved to the left. I have not done anything with the script. I have never done an EM table so not sure where to go next or even know if I can go farther with my limited scripting knowledge.

as far as the colors and materials they need adjusted. Lights haven’t been touched. Placement is better but not perfect since I cant play the table without errors. Anyone with more knowledge want to jump in on this, please???
The bottom layer for the doodle bug is there but looks weird when not in f6 mode.

July 24, 2019 at 8:53 pm #138639ok, so I’ve been working on this one for Tom – and it’s quite playable at the moment. But the thing that is kicking my ass is the saucer. For the life of me, this 3D blender stuff is crazy to me and I’ll need like a month to figure out how to do everything even with all the tutorials out there (cause I’ve never used blender for anything more than converting meshes from FP to use in VPX).
So with that said, anyone willing to create a playfield mesh for me for this blasted saucer on Dipsy Doodle? otherwise, I’m coding it old school with magnets :)

July 24, 2019 at 9:30 pm #138651I’ve done these a couple of times already and I believe all the real experts are on holiday. I could at least give it a shot and if it sucks – some expert can chime in for a v1.1
Re-read you question, and, no, not ready for that – or is it only the saucer on top we’re talking about ?

July 24, 2019 at 9:46 pm #138655If this table didn’t have a saucer, I’d skip the primitive playfield altogether. Apparently the one floating in this table a a couple of others doesn’t actually “work” – try grabbing the ball and dropping it off slightly to the left or right of the hole and you’ll see it drops straight down.
So the answer to your question – I just need a primitive playfield that includes the saucer up top. Any help is greatly appreciated on this.

July 24, 2019 at 10:26 pm #138667Sure. I’ve modified a few tables already using Bord’s tutorial. Most happy with Harlem Globetrotters. Looking at a youtube video now of Dipsy Doodle and the action doesn’t seem very far from it to be honest. Punching holes in a pf is not the whole job. Bord explains it pretty well in his tutorial in the end. Small kicker and hit height for the active kicker is maybe just as important as getting the hole right.
05:30 in the morning here, haven’t been into bed yet. So, maybe I screw everything up.

July 25, 2019 at 2:58 pm #138750Shout out to @Thalamus – he worked on the playfield mesh for me and I’m happy to say this issue is behind us now. Thanks again for assisting this 3D/Blender tech-tard :) .
Now for my next request – Anyone with a Dipsy Doodle (or even a Doodle Bug – although the colors are different) out there or know of someone with one? We need really good images of the plastics. I’ve got some really good ones of the slings so far and that’s about it. Everything else I’ve been able to find are either wrong perspective, low quality, or fuzzy/bad lighting.
Much appreciative,
-LM

July 25, 2019 at 3:08 pm #138759I guess actually I should share a preview since I’ve been having fun playing a “plastic-less” Dipsy Doodle for a bit now…

July 25, 2019 at 3:09 pm #138760A pleasure and true honor to be working with you. Please, don’t hesitate to ask again.
– Oh, and un-polite of me. Thanks @bord, would not have had a clue without you !

July 25, 2019 at 3:37 pm #138766I had FP versions on my cab at one point years ago. Don’t recall the quality of the plastics, but maybe they are good enough?

July 25, 2019 at 5:02 pm #138786If it is Popotte’s versions of the FP tables, the problems I saw is he baked in lighting on them. I saw Osprey101 did a bunch over on VPF (and Doodle Bug’s too!), but he’s not been around for like 3 years now. Anyone know if he’s lurking around under another name nowadays?

July 27, 2019 at 10:17 pm #139265btw, I should mention that this will be at least a 2Fer and possibly a 3Fer. The sister tables Doodle Bug (a definite) and Love Bug (still not sure yet) are being done as well.
