… ATLANTIS!”
Time to show you guys a pic of my current build.
‘Atlantis’ is a Bally pin from 1989. One of the Bally 6803 game system, developed from Bally with extreme cost consciousness in mind. Very interesting:Â This was the last game distributed to Germany via Bally Wulff.
For me it’s a fun game, I like it very much. No deep ruleset, but drop and standup targets, a vertical-up kicker, a 3-ball multiball with a mechanical moved ramp, and a very cool illumination with a white and a red mode.
Build is pretty far, although there is a lot to do. The mentioned GI is a bit strange to get coded. The submarine is missing, a lot detail stuff is missing too. So stay tuned.Â

July 14, 2019 at 11:55 am #136543This looks great! But I hope it’s a few days away from completion. …I was up all night playing Space Shuttle and Cup Head and need some time to recover. Natty Lights are nasty btw.
Thanks!

July 14, 2019 at 12:01 pm #136546Looks great and that table will get more play in vpx then most will ever play it in real life! Judging by the picture it looks better then the real deal! Well nearly as nothing beats the real deal but you get what I’m saying….

July 14, 2019 at 3:05 pm #136559I was also working on this build
if you wan to take over or want some resources.
DCrosby did an amazing job on the Subway model and texture redraw
He also up-scaled a 4K PF image, I was never happy with the plastics I recovered from the VP9 table.
and I’m missing the upper left plastics.
the GI is coded but I’m not sure how it works.
their are 4 GI rom IDs, 2 red and 2 white, I’m not sure what controls what.
I just added all the White GI lights to 1 white controller and all the Red lights to 1 red GI controller

July 14, 2019 at 5:13 pm #136575About the upscale part of your post. I’ve tried a few. But, the weird sounding waifu2x is not bad. And it is free. I know, the name puts you off etc. But, give it a try if you need something up-scaled. It might surprise you.

July 14, 2019 at 8:05 pm #136601I gave DCrosby my 1500 plus flyers he returned 2 of them

you might be able to do it yourself with the trial version

I also rebuild all the instruction cards, and by rebuild I mean I pretty much replaced SWF files with PNGs
made from CarnyPriests and Inkochnitos PDF files
I tried to automate the process with PS actions but the cards are not always placed in the same location

July 14, 2019 at 9:18 pm #136617I’ve extracted hundreds of instruction cards from pdf to swf using Illustrator to save as vector-based files (not raster). Available under my folder at PinballX FTP.
The problem with PNG is that PinballX does not display maintaining the correct aspect ratio, but stretches PNG to fit. PinballX displays SWF correctly. I don’t know what other front-ends do.
I know that Flash is pretty much dead, so there does need to be a new solution. It’s not a vector-based solution but PNG is pretty much the best solution I can think of. It’s possible to convert many to svg but the file sizes are a lot larger. Plus quite a few cards, Stern especially but even some of Inkochnito’s text based cards, are a mix of vector and raster types which would not work for svg. PDF might work, but I don’t know if any front ends support it.
I wrote an AutoHotkey-based converter a while back that uses a browser-based Flash plug-in to display cards. Except this time, I can make sure that images are displayed with the correct aspect ratio with appropriate letterboxing if needed. I display full screen on laptop display (same aspect ratio as my cab backglass display). Take a high-res snapshot with ffmpeg and convert to lossless PNG. The converter runs in batch so that I can do hundreds in a single run. Output is not archival quality because of the letterboxing so I would not publish but I can certainly share the script. Script can probably be tweaked to crop to correct aspect ratio/print size based on the file metadata, at least on the work I’ve done. I think @TerryRed might have a similar converter for PinUp.
