I have 3 lcd screen system (playfield,bg,dmd) and for some reason PinUp menu wont show DMD unless I choose ‘ForceBack’ option from Popper setup -> Screens/Theme. With ForceBack it works ok but just curious why it wont work with the default ‘Show’ option as in several tutorials/guides it’s been told not to touch these settings and that they’re fine for every normal setup. I have my screens set up normally in regular order and aligned so top of screens are in level so there shouldn’t be anything weird.

“show” in a pup-pack will only display something if your “default” pup settings for that screen are set to Show Always On. You would set that if you have a DMD LCD screen. If it’s default is set to Off then you would require Popper’s pup-pack (Pinupmenu) to be set to ForceOn or ForceBack for that screen to display media in Popper.
PuP-Packs will always override popper’s settings…but Show in a pup-pack is the only setting that requires the default setting to be Show/Always On to work.
So if you have a LCD DMD, then you can have the DMD in Pinupmenu pup-pack set To ForceOn or ForceBack and it will work fine as well.

January 4, 2019 at 12:49 pm #108635Right. Didn’t quite understand how these settings are related and indeed in my display config I had DMD off as default as I thought everything menu related is set from PuP pack settings.
Thanks Terry for clarifying this! If it was in some wiki I missed it and if not, wouldn’t hurt to add this info there too.You need to login in order to like this post: click here
January 4, 2019 at 1:05 pm #108641I agree on that point. I’ve been pondering a bit myself on why you at one place you pr. example set the dmd to disabled and then on another don’t. After what you just now wrote Terry, it all just started making sense. Definitely should be up on the wiki with text that stands out.

January 4, 2019 at 1:23 pm #108644If you remember that Popper is a program that “makes use of” Pinup Player its easier to understand.
Pinup Player is stand alone…so any program can make use of it. The idea of “defaults” for Pinup Player is so that if you have a pup-pack setup for “show” than it will only use a screen like Topper or DMD if the user has one and has that set in their default config for PuP. This is the ideal way to create a simple pup pack so you dont have Toppers popping up for a user who doesn’t have one (and it would appear most likely behind the playfield in VPX since they didn’t set that up, etc).
Popper uses a PuP-Pack just like any of the VPX tables can. Once Popper launches, it’s screens are managed and setup by the PuP-Pack. Ideally you don’t normally need to change anything in PinupMenu unless you want a Topper or DMD video to Always be ON when browsing, etc.

January 4, 2019 at 1:31 pm #108645FYI…realize that the PinUP System “wiki” is fully open for others to add/improve….don’t even need to register.
The idea would be that the community would help improve/share information….
