This is Firepower II from Williams in 1983
The goal of this build was to learn to redraw play fields and plastics. I’ve tried to incorporate the things I’ve learned so far in this table.
Many thanks to @Dark for the wire gate primitives and @Drybonz for the advice on the vector redraw!
let me know if you find anything that is broken on it.
Best Regards,
Walamab

October 29, 2016 at 10:00 pm #39893A couple of things I noticed right away. The playfield looks great. I noticed that the zip shows 17 or so MB but once unzipped 288 MB? It doesn’t look like it’s a reporting error. The slope is set to 4. I haven’t played the real table but I am assuming it should be at least 5.5 or so? Also the flippers look a little bit too long at least from looking at photos of the real table.
Hitting that left ramp is tough.

October 29, 2016 at 10:06 pm #39896Walamab make sure you export the png for the playfield in 72 dpi to prevent the huge file size.
*edit* Â Here is a repack of the .vpx… I have left everything in the same state as Walamab’s upload, except I resized the playfield and plastic images, and deleted the duplicate plastic image. Â It’s now 31mb. Â Hopefully, this will save Walamab some time.

October 30, 2016 at 10:03 am #39921Had a little issue with the update this AM. Text and version descriptions updated but the file didn’t quite make it. I’ll have to fix it this afternoon. The current download link does not have the v1.1 update.
Sorry for the confusion.

October 30, 2016 at 11:29 am #39922@walamab, @drybonz – I am planning to do a blog post on doing a playfield redraw using Gimp (non-vector).  It would be great if one of you could do a how-to doing a vector redraw.  It’s probably better and easier than what I did with Tee’d Off.  I know I’d be interested to learn how it’s done.

October 30, 2016 at 12:18 pm #39925Looking good, nice work!
One thing I noticed is the 2 wire rails under the flippers should have a physical wall height of perhaps 5 instead of the default 62 to match the visible otherwise the ball does weird stuff down there.
I also agree with TNT2, that the flippers are a little long. Â you have an overall length of around 3.5″ they should be closer to 3.25″. Â Try it with a length of 121 instead of 130 and see what you think (value taken from TAF flippers)

October 30, 2016 at 12:33 pm #39926v1.1 takes care of the flipper length. I always forget about setting the physical height of walls like you mentioned. Thanks for catching that. I’ll add it to 1.1 before I repost it.
thanks again,
Walamab

October 30, 2016 at 5:09 pm #39956I should probably try myself to do changes to Ramp1. But, don’t know how yet. The bend seems to steep for me to get the ball through at times. Great work though.

October 30, 2016 at 5:27 pm #39957@Thalamus – I think I fixed that in v1.1. I noticed it didn’t seem to work right. There was a primitive with collidible turned on that shouldn’t have been and the Z scale was messed up. I didn’t think this could affect the ball but it apprently does. Please let me know if the v1.1 update doesn’t fix it for you.
Thanks!

October 30, 2016 at 6:23 pm #39964Yeah, you are right. I think @randr may have done something when he posted the more reasonably sized version. When I look at my uploads it shows Firepower2v1.1.zip
I’ve included it here so you don’t have to wait for it to get fixed.
Thanks,
Walamab
