Flight 2000 (Stern 1980)
A classic design by Harry Williams featuring Stern’s first foray into speech.
F6 then check Dip 17 to enable speech.
Special thanks to @JPSalas for permitting me to use his ball lock/lift off script and for testing it out for me. Thanks to @Thalamus for adding 7.1 sound.
I started this build on a whim after finding some decent playfield images to work with. I was already working on 2 other classic Stern tables so this was a natural fit. There is a local Flight 2000 on location and I got pretty hooked on it. The ball lock mechanism and speech are particularly cool. Multiball can be hard to get but it is fun when it happens. Keep hitting the right spinner and get ready to BLAST OFF!

April 6, 2017 at 3:53 pm #51864Awesome news, Bord. I was just playing this one on my iPad before dozing off last night (boring old Pinball Arcade version) and thinking how great it’d be to have a VPX version. Coincidence! Totally appreciate your work. :)

April 6, 2017 at 5:51 pm #51873Wow, what a flood of memories, I smashed this table being all of about 13 or 14 when it came out !
I remember being really cool, hanging out at aladdins castle at the beachside town where i grew up, probably had a really crappy haircut, ended up getting a job at the arcade for a couple of years fixing and playing and being cool, did I mention I was cool back then .. Reality is I was a nerd, not at all cool, and only got the job i think out of sympathy from the owner as i was there every weekend on my way fishing, or there during the week when i was wagging school .. ahh, my wasted youth. .. .. at least i’m cool now .. Â Â
Needless to say, thanks @Bord ! Love it.
Cheers,
al.

April 8, 2017 at 4:29 am #51911great table, love it. Plays and looks really good. I shifted the left flipper a bit upwards, so the ball doesn’t jump when rolling down from the lane.

April 8, 2017 at 8:03 am #51915@stefanaustria , it is probably a difference in position or shape between the real flipper and the primitive one. I’m out of town at Midwest Gaming Convention this weekend playing pinball until I collapse but I’ll take a look when I get back.
