I purchased a sit n spin for one of my grandkids for Christmas and was so excited for him to play with it but I quickly relized they don’t make them like they used too! It’s shit!
So I decided to make him a better one!
purchased the lazy Susan at rockler for $9.99 and it’s rated at 1000lbs so even the wife can use it ;) then I bought a 24” and a 18” x 1” precut round circles maybe was 15 bucks and hand cut and routered the 12” circle “handle” out of 1” stair tread the center pole is just 1.5” closet rod.
Maybe 35 bucks and a few hours to make it and here is the industrial sit n spin even adults can use :)
i still need to sand it and paint it but works great.

January 7, 2019 at 10:35 pm #108875Ha ha I’ll do a video after it’s painted and looks nice but yeah it’s funny how just a simple thing like this puts a smile on your face the second you try it. Sure it’s a stupid project but my grandkids will love it compared to the crap plastic sit n spin I bought them

January 10, 2019 at 2:27 pm #109049Oh man does this bring back memories! Nice job, and I love how Kris and Coco are always involved.
Yes, I remember having one as a kid…but I also had one of the plastic junky ones for my kids too.
…so I decided to use if for something else. It’s hard to describe it exactly, but I used it with my kids to create “special effects” and animation for a movie I made with my kids when they were little.
Let’s just say, I used that and the big metal spinner ride that we used to have at our local parks long ago for some crazy stuff…and I got a lot of funny looks!
This short video shows how I did all of this…trust me its worth it to watch the whole thing to see the ridiculous lengths I went to to make this way back 2005’ish.

January 10, 2019 at 5:47 pm #109065I used to do horror movies with some friends a while back (before youtube so early 90’s), we could have used someone ingenious like you Terry! If you ever do more, I’m a movie nut, would be happy to help in any way I can. Well done but most importantly it looks like you all had a good time doing these.
