Hi all, probably a silly question, but does Future Pinball work with DOF so it will control all the tactile feedback devices, similar to using VPX? Or does Future Pinball use a similar DOF-like program of its own. Thanks!

August 24, 2020 at 12:47 am #197684Thanks very much for this info! My cab won’t arrive for another few months but I want to be ready for it when it does. Also, I’ll likely be able to test the feedback devices on the desktop test rig before that anyway, so I’ll start learning about how FP games, in particular the Ultimate Pro Pinball tables, can trigger them. Exciting times ahead! :)

Simply put… all FP tables (as do VPX non rom based tables) need to have DOF added to the tabe’s code before the table will support DOF.
PinEvent tables will have everything added to them: DOF, MX Leds…. PUP, PUP SSF, PUPDMD…and PUP Stream (which you can’t get on VPX).
DOFLinx modded tables can have dof and MX Leds.
The level of support any table has for the various DOF toys comes down to who did the mod.
Anything from me for PinEvent and my older DOFLinx mods will be very complete if they are labelled to support DOF and MX.

August 24, 2020 at 1:06 am #197686Ok, I get that. As you noted, FP tables need additional code added to them before they’ll interface with DOF, whereas VPX tables can use DOF directly, in a sense.
I was actually watching one of your videos not more than 20 min ago on this! So thanks!

No…actually they are both the exact same. They both need to have complete DOF code added to the tables. (except for most rom based tables on VPX because vpinmame triggers dof for the table).
FP today can interface with DOF directly the same as VPX… in fact more directly because FP doesn’t need or use B2S server.
It used to be the case that you needed DOFLinx for FP to use DOF and PuP. That is no longer the case…hence how PinEvent was born which allowed me to do much more without the need of another program (DOFLinx, freezy, b2s server, etc). You only need DOF R3++ installed (newest version from mjr’s site), and PuP installed (and BAM of course).

August 24, 2020 at 9:49 am #197740This makes sense now and understanding that concept will allow me to more easily install the games, or narrow down the problem faster if something isn’t working properly. Thanks Terry! :)
