I ran into an interesting issue last night as I was preparing my tables for my new cabinet. I have been using F1 and disabling “use external DmD” when a game has a back glass that includes the dmd. That’s been working fine  until I encountered 2 different games that use the same rom.  I think it was hollyh. I have one game that has an embedded dmd in the back glass and the other doesn’t so I need the external dmd to show the score for the second. Since it appears that vpinmame uses the rom name to somehow store that setting, I am not sure what to do. I know I can’t be the first person to have this issue but I am not sure  what the workaround is.

Any thoughts or assistance is appreciated

If you right click on the B2s backglass, you will see options for: “DMD” and for “B2S DMD.”

Try hiding the “DMD” which is created by the rom and leave the “B2S DMD” as visible to handle your scoring on the backglass.  If the backglass is just using virtual segmented displays (virtual single line alphanumeric modules), then try disabling both DMD options.

This is the option screen you should see after right clicking on a backglass:

What type of setup do you have – 2 screen with real DMD / OR –  3 screen

Post links for the 2 games

3 screens with monitor dmd. The games are Beach Bums and Bubba the werewolf. When I play with the B2s settings  it turns one off and the other on.  It seems the b2s also uses rom to save settings.

Yes – the file for that goes by rom name — B2STableSettings.xml

                  Change the rom Beach Bums

                    I will try that.

                    Thank you

                      To update: the B0B0C63D-605B-49EC-BD7F-8E2FBECAC1142BD6AF13-FA9B-42BF-AD48-BF91F209FCAA

I used the “lhywoodh”  Rom that came with the Bubba table and renamed it to “bubba”, changed the script to the new name and its works perfectly.

I then took the “hlywoodh” rom that came with the bums table, renamed it to “bchbum”, changed the script to the new name and the table wouldn’t load. I then went into the game options and changed the table name and the game loaded, but the back glass wouldn’t work. I played with it a little but couldn’t figure it out. That’s where I left it last night.
