By Using Layers or Select Element
Select Object with the left mouse click
Right Click on the Object
Assign to…. (and select your layer)
Alternative Method
Click on Edit
Click on Select Element
Use the keyboard to type in the first letter of the objects name, then scroll down until you find it.
You can also click on the Select Element Editor list Name to reverse the A-Z list order.

I would call that a failed method. If it is part of a collection – it is easy to select more than you want. Shift click is probably what you wanted.

the method never fails, you must have misunderstood the procedure, it even works with objects that have been placed in the collections manager.
The method will allow you to select one object at a time so that you can work with it.
Visual Pinball /Property Select Element and Layers will enable the table designer to organize his objects.
Highlighting a single object would be difficult if the Select Element and Layer system was not available. This would be applicable for example : when lights are piled on top of lights and you need to work with one of them.
The collection manager will not be interfered with when changing an objects layer position
The method could fail if your primary mouse button has been reversed. (Mouse Properties)
Its a good tried and tested method.

December 30, 2018 at 8:11 am #108071Sure. Open a 32a table. Left click a wall … see if you select ONE object – I bet you don’t. Since I don’t tell which table. I of course can be wrong. But, in a very high percentage at least of most of his tables. Shift clicking however is the way for ONE object to be selected in that case and that is why I told you that your method is partly wrong.

Shift left click will select an object.
Shift and Left click can be used to select a group of objects, you can also use the mouse to manufacture a rectangular box which can be positioned over all objects that want to be selected. (By default/unless your primary mouse button has been reversed)
Left click will only be needed to select one single object at a time. (By default/unless your primary mouse button has been reversed)
This method works on all Tables.
This can only be altered if you have access to a programmable mouse input device.
Maybe you are working with a programmable mouse input device.
