I have a question about VPMAlias.txt can I add comments to the file to designate what table its for and just comment it out

and what would be the proper way to comment it out # or ‘ or ; or rem ???

It is a pinmame hack, who says it supports comments in the first place ? The one that knows though, is @DjRobX or any other guy that reads C code like a regular book

It’s a loose format, it will ignore things it doesn’t understand.

Comments are supported.   It specifically ignores # or ‘ or ;  .   .. or you can put whatever you want after a space

If you add “rem” that will also work since “rem” doesn’t match a rom name…

Great question, as it shows you understand data->in to program and self document stuff. I do it all the time :)    Great stuff until xml came around.

 

most people use parsers that are so powerfull it works with many formats.   (i miss grep and pipes)
