December 24, 2020 at 3:31 pm #216691Lost in the shuffle ??? You mind me helping looking thou the wip’s ?
I have a vague feeling that I know that machine from somewhere, but, I can’t remember if that is a VP experience or real. Anyway, I’m looking forward to play it tomorrow.

December 25, 2020 at 8:33 am #216739@32assassin : Seems you forgot to code the whole row of targets behind the drops. Easy fix, is sw28 to 32. I really like this game. So, thanks again.
Oh, and swap around sw18 and sw20.

December 25, 2020 at 11:50 am #216749I had Kings of Steel 35 years ago in my pinball collection and missed it ever since I made the mistake of selling it. Now I can enjoy it again. Thanks so much for the Christmas present!

December 25, 2020 at 3:30 pm #216774I have this table (real pinball table), by the way, if you want or need pictures of anything for it.
I cut a wheel from a low quality source, tried to do an upscale but it looked like crap
https://www.vpforums.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=8839
a print quality backglass scan would get you a HQ wheel and print quality dB2s file

Oh, and swap around sw18 and sw20.
table has been updated with the missing sw28-sw32 code
I downloaded the service manual and sw18 and sw20 seem to be in the right place.

December 25, 2020 at 5:09 pm #216782This table brings back a lot of memories. One of the pins I used to play in the arcades.

December 25, 2020 at 6:24 pm #216785Ok, if the switches are in the right place, I find it odd that the light for 18 lights up when you hit 20. Maybe it is the lights that is wrong them. I don’t think they constructed the machine this way, that I’m pretty sure of.

December 26, 2020 at 10:29 am #216858Thanks, another great table
Found a couple of oddities though
Nudge is assigned to the wrong switch, should be 15 I think as nudging currently gives me a score which is cheating
The outlane gate and switch doesn’t seem to do anything
Something odd is going on with the drop target resets, when they reset I’m getting an extra target raised that does not match the lights e.g. when Q is lit also 1 J gets raised
Good job though, I will have more of a look when I can, maybe compare it to the VP9 version… and Merry Christmas

the table is running on the Bally.vbs
line 114
vpmNudge.TiltSwitch = 7
Visual Pinball\Scripts\Bally.vbs
line 26
Const swTilt = 7
but I see what you mean, ID 7 can’t be mapped to the slinghsot and also be the tilt switch
Not sure what you mean by outlane gate
the left gate is not mapped to a switch
the right flipper diverter is rom controlled
like the drop targets they are all solenoid controlled
I would tell you to download the service manual and look through and see if I made a mistake somewhere.
but in many cases the service manual IDs do not match the PINMAME IDs.  I used one of the older tables
for Solenoid ID mapping because the service manual IDs will not work.

December 26, 2020 at 2:14 pm #216899Thanks @32Assassin for looking, I have the manual downloaded and am going through it but as you said the mapping to pinMame is not very good. I’ll have a play and let you know if I figure out that the switches / Sols are doing.
For the right flipper diverter I think it might just be inverted, i.e. closed when it should be open, the VP9 version starts with it in the vertical position and a quick youTube of the real table confirms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlnknIgMSVo
For the drop targets, I have been trying to figure out what is going on for a bit and no luck so far as it is all hidden in the ROM but I’ll not give up

December 26, 2020 at 3:51 pm #216908Ok… making progress with the drop targets
looks like the solenoids to drop the unwanted targets (8-13) are firing directly after or during the reset bank (sol14) so the first target it tries to drop is not yet up.
Is this because I am not running on the fastest machine or can I add a timer to delay the start of the dropping of targets?Edit: I changed the “Raise Delay” of all the targets from 100ms to 1ms and it now works
Sorry for being a pain, being an old software engineer doesn’t help learning VPX that much

December 26, 2020 at 3:58 pm #216911@j4mieplayer : I believe you’re correct about the tiltsw needing to be 15, but, I’m not sure if there is anything wrong with the drops. You have to remember that the in-/outlane spots one target of either white or yellow. So, I believe that is also why it always pops up either a single white or yellow target with the others. I believe also that you only need to get down those lit ones. I’m grasping at straws now, haven’t even looked at the manual.
