I love how you guys take pictures of the real table and pass it of as a render

The light sourcing here is particularly striking, it’s def an amazing pic and can really push “is it real or VPX” to the limit.  Seriously wow!

Looks good but we need to either photoshop the holes in the bottom of his jacket on the texture up a bit or move the screws down a bit.  :P

Just smiling. This will be the next table which will look MUCH MORE nice than the original arcade machine.

    Breathtaking Schreibi34!

Alright, i’m done with tuning the GI-OFF lights! The good thing is that with only three lightsources (BG, surrounding environment and ceiling) the rendertimes will speed up by about 60-70%. Thats alot when all you have is a GTX970, a 6 year old i5 and 8 gigs of ram. Thanks to Corona i’ll have to wait a little longer for my new gaming PC!

The VPX table has a full set of GI-ON prims and textures and is fully playable. Inserts, Flashers and physics still need alot of tuning. @Herweh did an absolut perfect job with his script. The table is running at 143fps in DT mode on the above system. It might drop a bit when implementing GI-OFF but not by much. About 90% of all objects are combined on only 3 different prims with three 4096×4096 texture images. I will capture a video as soon as the inserts and flashers look a little more polished!

Herwehs newest gem is Frank turning his head towards a solenoid that is fired! My absolut favourite! Fits perfect to that “numb” Frankenstein monster thing. All selectable via the script.

If anybody knows for sure how Franks authentic head movement of a brand new stock table looks like, please let us know! Most tables in gameplay videos have a poorly maintained Frank. That goes from the head not moving at all to Frank only turning his head to the right side. It looks like that a random head turn is “authentic”, but we’re not sure!

I remember looking at a lot of videos back in the day for the vp9 version, I thought the head tracked ball movement through switch triggers however I’m pretty sure it’s random.  The head rotates more to (his) right and to a lesser degree to (his) left.

That’s exactly what we saw! I was just hoping that somebody here owned or played a propper maintained table!

This pin was recreated by Farsight a while back — would the authentic head movements be in there? I’m not sure how accurate their recreations are.

My friend has the real table, so I should have access if there are specific questions about how the head moves.

My friend has the real table, so I should have access if there are specific questions about how the head moves.

    1.  Does he actually track any switch movement?
    2. Or is his head movements entirely random?
    3. Is there a specific sequence?  If you timed it and documented each head turn….is it a pattern?  Or is it random?  There seem to be some patterns at least.

Can you help clarify any of this please?

I’m not sure how correct the VP9 version was or how Unclewilly had coded it at the time but I can say at the very least ‘it looked’ to emulate what we were seeing videos.
