February 7, 2020 at 3:55 pm #162094I decided to add a separate topper display to the cabinet a few days ago. I dug out an old Mimo USB monitor I had, decased it, and built a frame for it. All in all it took about 2 hours work and cost me nothing.

February 7, 2020 at 6:29 pm #162104USB monitor! That’s brilliant. 10″? Are you running vids or just pics? Off to eBay!   …wait…Gwen…??? those mounting screws..Phillip heads? Need to be slotted brass

February 7, 2020 at 6:46 pm #162107It’s a Mimo 7″ usb monitor model UM-710S. And I’m running full motion video on it. The resolution is 800X480 and it works great. The screws are brass. And I prefer using Phillips head since they don’t strip as easily.

February 7, 2020 at 7:57 pm #162114Well…as long as they’re brass:) Since we’re talking screws – – have you ever seen an antique spiral-ratchet screwdriver? Fascinating and very SP-ish.  This pic is of a 50’s era Stanley Yankee I have. It’s an incredibly creative design – pre-1900’s (reversible!) that I always thought was for slotted head screws only. So I also went to attach a Ytube vid…and the first one that came up had someone with a Phillips bit loaded. That was funny. You need one of these for your tool-kit!

February 7, 2020 at 8:31 pm #162124I refuse to use any Philips or Slot screws if possible. Can’t understand why we still use those to be honest when you have much better alternatives in Torx or Double Square. Let the screw driver slip just a few times and you’re done for with those bad designs.

Two? You are a rare person. But we already knew that. Pics of these strange screw drivers!! and
‘I refuse to use any Philips or Slot screws if possible. Can’t understand why we still use.. ‘ I work with fasteners every day. Slotted to Torx. Funny how we haven’t found the perfect screw.

February 18, 2020 at 3:37 pm #163883And to top it all off – because I am such a complete Tesla nerd I spent way too much time scratch-building a nearly 3-foot tall model of the Wardenclyffe Tower out of balsa wood. Yep – definitely a nerd…

February 24, 2020 at 9:29 pm #164832Wondering if you had a moment when you realized you had to build this…or if it grew over time. Are there drawings? Backstory? Was there a wip? This is such an amazing build and a testament to our extremes. Thanks!!

Love the Tron-esque soundtrack, I looked it up and lo and behold: Tesla Suite by Juan Carlos Garcia. How appropriate! You win Gwen, definitely the most original pincab I’ve ever seen

Yeah, really I realized I had to do this as soon as I was really committed to building a pincab.
