I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I recently acquired a Global VR Ultra Pin and was wondering what is the best route (no pun intended) to upgrade it to one of the newer emulators? I am assuming I will have to upgrade the PC (do I just need a new graphics card or entire swap?).

August 26, 2017 at 8:30 am #62238Hey welcome CosmicChasm. Not sure what the specs are in the machine you describe, perhaps post specs.
In general you just need a good video card to run Visual Pinball, I’m not sure what you plan to do exactly especially in regards to VR but what issues are you having? You’re running FP with BAM, what are you using with VR?
For my pincab I run a 1070ti and I’m able to run pretty much all VP tables at top settings.

August 26, 2017 at 8:47 am #62241Currently this is all stock the way it shipped from Global VR back in 2009/2010. So I am confident it will need a PC upgrade (easy part). What I want to do is upgrade the software to what ever is best for the cabinet/hardware.

August 26, 2017 at 8:48 am #62242Im sure you will need a PC upgrade but you never know until you provide the specs of your system. Maybe it has been upgraded already?

August 27, 2017 at 10:13 am #62377The specs are:
- Pentium D 3 GHz (925)
- 1 GB of ram
- 40 GB HD
Yeah, I think is safe to say this is all original hardware.

August 27, 2017 at 12:43 pm #62388A normal Intel CPU machine with 8GB ram, and a Nvidia 750ti or better. The more money you put into the GPU the better I guess. I have a 750ti, and I also have a 4k monitor. I can’t run higher than 1080p but with the recent updates it seems I can run with some AA that I couldn’t before. I will upgrade my GPU, but, as long as I can run all tables fine with the setup I have I’m just waiting for the price to come down on those 1080’s.

August 27, 2017 at 2:38 pm #62400Should I upgrade the monitor too (I would think so)? I have no idea the model installed, other then its 10 years old and 32″.
