Hi Guy, My brother showed me a visual pinball cab on the internet years ago. It was Chris 99’s Bing Bang pin.  I fell in love with that thing. I have a dodge viper Night Driven pin. Being a Mopar guy.  Years later I see Randr’s Mopar madness pin and Terry’s Pinkadia. WOW!  It is time to do this. I cant watch enough of there you tube videos on there cabs.  I work for the Rail road as an engineer driving trains to a town 251 miles, were I own a  garage. I don’t get allot of time on it after taking a nap, but hope to rough it in enough to bring it here to my house and finish it out in the basement were it will stay. So it will be a slow go and I am sure I will have some questions along the way. My carpenter work is more like a wood butcher, but I have great sense of wiring and basic fab, my computer skills are lacking and I am sure the addressable led lights are going to make me learn a few new words. Here is what I got as of now.

Computer is a Cyber power  ( going to have a rear slider for the computer)

    Operating System: Windows 10 Home (64-bit Edition) CPU: Intel® Core™ Processor i7-6700K 4.00GHZ 8MB Intel Smart Cache LGA1151 (Skylake) Motherboard: ASRock Z170M-ITX/AC 802.11ac WiFi+ BT, Intel GbLAN, 1 PCIe x16, 1 mSATA, 4 SATA 6Gb/s RAM / System Memory: 16GB (8GBx2) DDR4/3000MHz Dual Channel Memory (ADATA XPG Z1) Video Card: GeForce® GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X (Pascal)[VR Ready] (Single Card)

    Tv’s

    Playfeild Vizio Smartcast 48″ e48udo 4k

    Back Glass Samsung 32″

    Dmd/Topper        Insignia™ – 24″ Class – LED

So Cab is going to have a custom lock Down bar as you can see. The finish cab with is 26 7/16″ wide but I believe is not too far of a stretch.

    I have

    2 led wizs

    1 teensy board and adaptor

    10  1m 144led  WS2812B 5050 RGB LED

    Zebs digital plunger

4 Groovy game gears RGB lights for flipper and magna save

    Launch ball Button

    24v Knocker motor

Stern shaker motor from pinball life

    12v Blower fan

    2 Beacons

    10 Seimens 24v contactors

    H bridge

    2 8 Channel 5v relays

    12v Bell

custom lock bar from virtua pin

2 5 1/4 speakers 8″ sub and amp from virtua pin

Chrome legs and ss side rails from pinball life

Here are some pics of what I have going on so far. The cabinet is made of 3/4 cabinet grade maple. With biscuit joint for strength as I did not 45 the corners.

I am waiting on the lock down Bar so I can figure out were to cut the coin door in. The coin door bolts to the  lock down bar receiver is that correct? After I figure out were the coin door, back box hinges and side rails fit. I will fit the tv and figure out button location and addressable led light location along the playfield. I am going to router a channel along the side for the leds.  They sell aluminum led channel with plastic covers, but have not  decided if that is the route yet.  I have not glued the cabinet together yet until I figure this all out. I also have to cut the t slot for the rails and molding that I am going to use on the back box.

Ok guys. What do you think of this channel for leds to mount the addressable lights down the playfield?  Might be able to tint the clear lens with window tint if desired.  Router it into the sides, only 1/4 inch deep.  Less then 5/8 wide.

I thought about doing that years ago  but I think if I was to build a cab today I would just route a slot for led strip and mount strip in the slot as is no channel needed and would be countersunk in Wall

You are probably right. The price is very expensive for what it is. I thought about mounting it to a strip of metal. I am going to be a little short by around 4 inches to cover the length of tv. I hope I can solder a piece on,  by butting them together. Not too familiar with making 144 meter leds longer.  I read you can run them as long as 180 leds before injecting power.

I did a little more. I got my custom lock down. I mounted the receiver centered left to right and found the center. Then drilled the center hole of the receiver all the way thru the front of cabinet for the coin door carriage bolt. I then made a cardboard template of the coin door and punched a hole were the top coin door bolt is and screwed the template to the cabinet in that hole. leveled it and marked it. Then used a scroll saw to cut out the coin door and mounted it up.

I am having problems coming up with a good solution for the blower fan. I had cabinet pull handle that I flipped upside down for a scoop but does not look  like it will protrude far enough out to give you a good shot of air in the face. I cut an additional 3/4 spacer, but think it will look tacky even cleaned up and routered.  What do you guys think of this stainless steel bowl cut at an angle for a bottom air scoop?  I could polish it up like chrome or paint it black. Or looking for other ideas.  I want to keep the coin door in tack, and not have the fan mounted on the back box.

Got some more time to work on the pinball machine.  I got the leg bolt holes drilled, and the leg brackets mounted with the front leg brackets off set to the top, and back legs off set to the bottom. I  bought some 3/8×16 thread repair inserts that I installed in the brackets and used them as a drill guide to drill my holes  thru the brackets without touching the bracket threads. Worked excellent in the front, But back legs sucked as the offset is to the bottom of the cab so had to use a angel drill to do it on the back. They turned out nice and true.

Then I mounted the back box hinges and counter sunk the bushings into the wood on the tv side, so the tv would clear being raised up and down.  I was trying to think of a nice hinge bracket for the inside of the cabinet.  I looked on amazon and found 3/8 chromed brass flange mounts for the same price I could buy black iron in town. So I notched them for the tv mount.

I flushed the Tv in the front with about 1/8 of an inch below were the glass will ride in the glass channels.  Then in the back I left 3.5 inches from the top of the tv case to the bottom of the back box support brace, so I can get 7 strips of 14mm wide addressable leds stacked in for a matrix.  I was happy the case bezel in the front had enough room to vanish into the lock down bar.  Then I set the stainless steel glass side rails on the plastic glass channels not pictured and marked on the cabinet were they sat below the lock down bar.  So to figure out were the flipper and magna save button would fit without drilling my stainless side rails.  I rested my hands on the cabinet and marked a radius of were my finger could reach easy and tried to figure out were to mount them were they would clear the bottom tv case.  WOW! Who would have thought there was so much planning to make things fit.  I had bought some groovy game gear Spectra Eclipse  buttons with the Helio 9 rgb led inserts.   Drilled  a pilot hole for  1  1/8 Forstner bit and prayed to the pinball gods I had measured things correctly for clearance with the tv.   Drilled from the back a bit, then finished drilling from the cab face in.  Boy was I happy when they fit, cleared the tv and felt great with the hands off the lock down bar.  When I get time next I will tackle the zebs digital plunger and front buttons.  I still have plenty of chances to screw this up! You guys make this look too easy. My hats off to you guys! :good:

I had to go with a custom lock down bar.  Thought long and hard on de casing it and  chickened out!  I am really digging the 4k tv. These new vp tables are so sharp. I love you can read the cards on the tables. Now with all this pup pack madness this hobby is always getting better!

I got some more time.   I got the groovy game gear buttons drilled in at 1 1/8 and got the Williams plunger with the zebs mounted just so bellow the flippers. Going to have   Start, Exit, and Extra ball on the left. Volume + and – under the cab on the plunger side so I don’t have to open the coin door.  The pc on will below on the left. :yahoo:

It looks to me that your are using arcade buttons for the flippers ?? If so, please do yourself a favor and replaced them for leaf switches.
