I live a very sheltered life when it comes to access to real pinball machines. Very rarely do I get the opportunity to play a newer pinball game when I am on a trip. We are in Ocean City Maryland and got a chance to try out The Munsters yesterday. I also got to play Sterns Star Wars when I was at Disney a couple months ago. I was really excited to try them out but ended up being severely disappointed. Sad! Anyone else share the feeling?

July 1, 2019 at 3:34 pm #135172I do. Not a fan of the newer Stern’s. I might feel differently if I had 3-4 hours to figure out what was going on. They just feel too complex for me.
Wizard of Oz on the other hand, I absolutely love!

July 1, 2019 at 3:38 pm #135173SW is actually a very good an deep game. It is one of those games that demands that you put your time into understanding the rule before it becomes a great game. Personally I’ve struggled to learn GOT, but, now it is one of my favorites. ACDC is also a game that requires a bit of study in order to be fully appreciated. Munsters, is still to me, a modern game – made, trying to be old. I’m sure it is only because I don’t understand it yet. But, I’m having hard time seeing that I’m ever going to love it.

July 1, 2019 at 4:04 pm #135179I love Dialed In. Easily my favorite game from the last 20 years.
WOZ is good, GOTG grew on me, TNA is really fun.
But yeah, quite a few disappointments in recent years. Don’t forget even during the WPC years there were plenty of dogs. 1996 was batting .500 at best. Easy to forgive in a year that also produced Safe Cracker.

July 1, 2019 at 6:33 pm #135187I guess it’s an era of pinball that is catering more to home collectors because these games, in my opinion, cannot survive in arcades. I agree that Star Wars needs much time to get deep into. I played it for about a week every time we came back to the resort and it wasn’t bad. If I was playing it in an arcade I wouldn’t spend my whole visit dumping money into one pinball game just to understand it better. Wizard of Oz was fun, I did play that multiple times in one visit but Munsters, got bored after 2 plays

July 1, 2019 at 10:11 pm #135204Never a fan of the Sterns, I’m very old school. If I was to buy one, it would be the Iron Maiden game. Anyone play Houdini or Alice Cooper here? Love Alice seen him a couple times, so was wondering how good the game is.

July 1, 2019 at 10:36 pm #135207We have an Alice Cooper in town. Compared to an early version I played last year it is much improved. Tough shots but creative programming has turned it into a pretty clever game.

July 2, 2019 at 8:28 am #135248The new tables look cool but for me I still prefer the 80s and early 90s style tables. I wish they would start coming up with original themes again instead of using TinselTown themes.
I mean it just doesn’t get any better then the Pinbot series of tables, Centaur, alien poker, ect….
