I’ve started work on a new original based on one of my favorite movies. “O Brother, Where Are Thou?”
Not sure where it will lead. It will take a good long time. I’m reminded of the prophet’s words: ‘First you must travel a long and difficult road, a road fraught with peril”
So, let’s get started…

October 30, 2020 at 4:24 pm #207622The entire game will have a strong sepia tone, like the movie. Still working on the game play. Trying to remain true to the story and tone. The game will feature the soundtrack plus other period tracks from the 20s and 30s. Thinking about a pup pack on this one. In the meantime, working on prims.

October 30, 2020 at 10:34 pm #207743..well, that’s weird. That last post was a response to a pm bord sent me. Not sure how it wound up here. Unintentional. Hope you have a wood-rail in your future to rooster!

October 31, 2020 at 12:48 pm #207851Seeing what you’re about to do with other tables, I can tell you. I’m really looking forward to what you come up with next. I like what I’m seeing already

November 8, 2020 at 6:42 am #209326Thought I’d post where the PF is now, I think I’m ready to build in VP.
Basic game play follows movie: escape many snares to find the treasure.
Couple of goals on game play: To activate each step of the escape, you will need to get Dapper Dan hair treatment, then hit that levels targets. Once done, you shoot for the three characters saucers which lock the balls. Once all three saucers are filled, it starts multiball.
PF has some unique elements: the top lanes drop into different hit events: one bounces the ball left toward the bumpers, the center enters a VUK and into a ramp, the third drops down the right loop. Each sling will kick in two directions depending on where they’re hit. there will be a ramp at the railroad tracks, and another above the WEZY insert. Still working on whether the WEZY ramp tunes a new song. Not sure.
Lots of voice callouts, or maybe one day a pup pack.

December 22, 2020 at 7:43 pm #216378More graphical tweaks while I work on scripting … including side and back walls ideas.
Debating whether I want to launch with a pup pack or just verbal and musical callouts.

December 22, 2020 at 11:48 pm #216391To use a sailor’s term – love your tacking approach for design and inspiration. Very curious to see what you’re coming up with here. …but also bummed your steampunk project has to wait for another day.

December 23, 2020 at 2:39 am #216414Pup can be great, if the video segments are short and compliment to what is happening on the playfield. If not, it is just imo a complete waste.

December 23, 2020 at 7:53 am #216468@thalamus That’s what I’m thinking. I don’t pay much attention to the visuals of pup clips when I play those tables. And I worry about repetition of call outs. Like if I use “we gotta RUNNOFT” to an inlane, how many times before you get tired of it. So maybe just when game play stops for moment. Like a new ball in plunger lane when one ball is locked.
@jfr1 I may come back to steampunk after all. But I keep coming up with ideas. My oldest son has me thinking about a orbital Halo pin. Not sure I’m up to the task but it would be an awesome theme.Onevox

December 31, 2020 at 7:32 am #217580I’m hoping this will work. Instead of a VUK for the ring saucer, (Felt like the two ramps where enough) the center two DTs will drop when the saucer is activated and the ball will kick from behind the bank of DTs. Need to figure out what happens if the ball misses the saucer and ends up behind the standing DTs. Maybe a trigger to drop them and reset to previous.
This gives me the option to require you to get “Bona Fide” before you can get the ring near the end of your journey.

January 3, 2021 at 8:00 pm #218123Fun to get to this point. Lots of visual tweaks to go: target art, materials, etc.
Ramps for placement. Found out I had some bad angles. You can see some residual parts from some of my other tables …

January 24, 2021 at 6:30 pm #220825Found a lot of play issues as I started to test ball flow, so more tweaking. The two kicker per sling idea didn’t work. Too complicated for not much added fun. Once I get the shots tuned in, I’ll start the ruleset. I think I’m going to make it a little more complex. The shots are fun but the achievements may be too easy to get. But, this is a quirky niche game.

January 24, 2021 at 8:48 pm #220855Very good. Love the plunger shot, very different. One thing I saw, I would consider swapping the right ramp and the kicker in positions. Ramp shots like that I never liked, to close to the slings and interfere a bit. (firepower 2 prime example, just awkward shot) looks like you have the room for it, and think it may be a more enjoyable shot for the player to get.
