Never saw this movie. I guess I should probably go watch it because the table is looking very good

January 24, 2021 at 11:14 pm #220875@shiva I like that idea. I think it will help with a more realistic ramp slope. And maybe a few more bends. Thanks and Stay tuned.
@Tom I’ve seen it a dozen times And still laugh out loud. This will have several voice call outs and a fun pup pack.

January 25, 2021 at 4:20 pm #221100Like Tom. Had not seen this movie, just finished it and enjoyed it too. Agree with Shiva on his suggestion, whatever you decide though. I’m looking forward to try this one out as I find the preliminary layout unusual and interesting.

January 25, 2021 at 6:31 pm #221110Another suggestion you never asked for. Is there a 2 way long looping shot there? If that is what you want, your angle is wrong at the right spinner side. If you have room, set the right side of that lane so it “points” to the right flipper instead of the left flipper. This way, you can set up a combo shot like High speed where you shoot the ball with the right flipper into the left lane, the ball wraps across the top of the table, travels downward and exits to where it hits the right flipper. If you time it right, you can do the exact same shot, and give a special scoring feature like a additional multiplier. Flow baby flow

February 11, 2021 at 10:46 am #223681The left “loop” shot stops the ball at the key rollovers, which is necessary because the rollovers are needed to advance. The right shot takes you to the Everett saucer, which ejects the ball across the back and down the left. Added an Extra Ball feature … if you get the 5 keys three times. You’ll see the padlock lights above the right sling. I really need to get to those ramps…

February 11, 2021 at 2:24 pm #223710Looks like a pinball machine right out of a game hall, no one would think it was grown just in your head. Congratulation! Really looking forward to pull the plunger!

February 13, 2021 at 12:55 pm #224034I’m thinking this ramp is too big. Maybe end it just past the spinner? Seems to hide several shots. Maybe a little narrower at the end as well.
Thank you flupper, again, for your escellent ramp tutorial.

February 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm #224042Do you intend on making a puppack for it? if not. Can me and Hawkeyes do it?

February 13, 2021 at 6:44 pm #224075February 13, 2021 at 6:59 pm #224077I do. A pup pack is a must and really why I started this. I wanted to do a pup table and this was an obvious choice for me. I have all the clips ready. It should be a hoot.
But it will be the last thing I do, still a lot of scripting and table stuff to do.
A smaller ramp helps open up the table. I think it took me about 30 iterations to get one that works to my satisfaction.

February 14, 2021 at 4:56 pm #224266Got the wire ramp modeled. Added some “cross ties” on the up slope. Nice to have the game sort of physically done. Now back to that scripting, and working on shot finessing.
May need to tweak where the rails meet the PF. Added the DapperDan tin to see how it looks. Need to find a good place for 1, 2 or 3.

February 14, 2021 at 7:50 pm #224286@bord I decided to try curves (for the first time) on the wire ramp after watching one of your videos. So, thanks for the tip. I started to noodle with the idea of a train rail shape extruded along the paths, with “wooden” cross ties using a normal map. I may try it one day and see how it looks.

February 18, 2021 at 6:09 pm #224845I’m considering this game flow and PF baked.
I moved the wire ramp back to its original location which improved the wire ramp shot potential and opened up the right loop shot that goes up to Everett. Game play hint: backflips.

February 27, 2021 at 8:02 am #226357That short right wire ramp is crazy. Genius!

March 11, 2021 at 12:02 pm #228807A lot has happened since we last spoke. Loserman76 has figured out the game flow scripting … so the game basically works. (I’m indebted.) While he was doing that, I was testing shots and discovered that some of them were darn near impossible. So I adjusted angles. And that short wire ramp @zimbakin said was genius wasn’t so genius after all. I just couldn’t make the shot with any degree of probability. So I did what I did on The Clash, plastic ramp to wire ramp. Not as charming, but the shot and ramp physics are great now.
You may notice some other things here. A few more movie accurate signs on the back wall, and I re-modeled the radio to drastically reduce poly count on the primitive.
Still a lot of work to go.
