Not much input for my other questions. But I’ll hazard another try.
I am sadly working with a game room solutions 43″ cabinet (heavily modified at this point). Because of the way they did the flipper buttons (the second button further back is higher than the first button) if I pull the playfield all the way to the lockdown bar I have to bring the playfield monitor all the way to the top of the cabinet to clear that button. If I want to leave room for an LED matrix I have to then angle the monitor down a tad to the back of the cabinet.
I was happy with the arrangement at first but I have been playing it a bit as I build it and I find the angle a little distracting as things seem further away and I am not getting a good 3D effect. I am sure I need to adjust the POV settings a bit. But it just feels a tad off and I am not sure any adjustment will make it right. Seems like if anything the back should tilt up.
My options are 1) leave it as planned, 2) mount it flat and not have a full rear led matrix (which I am mixed on wanting, I don’t like the intensity of all those lights some people use, thats just me, but wanted to see it for myself), 3) push the monitor forward a bit and put in a spacer/arcade control panel/mini display in front and lower the playfield monitor…. not sure how you fill the vertical gap from the spacer down to the monitor, guess you only see that if looking at the table backwards (from the backbox to front).
Any opinions/comments? If you are familiar with the GRS cabinet I modded away the original GRS arcade control panel and got a custom lockdown bar and siderails/glass channel installed. I suppose I could cap the problematic button holes and drill new one spaced differently, but that might be pushing my modding luck.

February 11, 2021 at 8:05 pm #223727I originally had mine at an angle thinking, like you, that addressable leds would be down the road. But I thought too much light show would be too much for this eye glasses wearing guy. I ended mounting it parallel to glass about an inch down. VPX has so many angle options with inclination and layback etc that the best option was to angle the tv towards my face as naturally as possible.

February 11, 2021 at 11:49 pm #223737I’ve learned that the minds eye can adjust to wildly differing pf options. When I built my cab I was going for 80’s Bally. And spent a lot of time researching builds. And they were all over the place. I needed to do what you’re doing to figure out what worked best for me. Mess around. For my build I landed on the monitor being 2″ below the glass and angled with the glass to help with the illusion. For me? This has been dead on balls accurate. But would be curious to see pics of a full-steam set-up running with a pf that angles downward.
Flip buttons. For most of the tables I’ve played irl that had two buttons they have been arranged the way you described yours. I would try to leave them where they are.

February 12, 2021 at 10:55 am #223805I’ll try the back legs, that might help a little.

February 12, 2021 at 4:41 pm #223853I did the same as onevox as when I built mine the extras weren’t in the budget. I always figured I could change it around later if I wanted but it’s been 2 years and I’m more than happy with the way it is. My tv is spaced evenly in between the front of the cab and the backbox.
