      Pinballers,

      I do plan on making a full build thread so others can hopefully learn from my mistakes. Before I do, I was hoping to seek some advice regarding the surface placement of the playfield TV in relation to the top of the cabinet. In most videos it appears that the TV sits closer to the surface at the lockdown bar and slowly dips as it progresses towards the back of the box. I do eventually want to put in a 5 rgb flasher or better yet a addressable LED matrix like randr or TerryRed have, so I want to make sure my height at the back is, at minimum, enough for easy implementation down the road.

      What did you all do for vertical distances, and are you happy with them?

          Mine is parallel to the glass, about 1″ down.  But I don’t want/have those fancy lights or anything so didn’t need the space, and VP adds the depth with sidewalls on the screen so I thought those were redundant anyway.

            @borgdog makes a good point.

            If you are building newer style pinball cab or going classic pinball style that makes a huge difference on tv angle.

            Keep in mind i have many real pinballs but ALWAYS have had older pins in my basement and one reason is the glass is flat and i can put my drink on it without sliding off!

              Thanks guys, this is extremely helpful. I’m sure I’ll flip-flop a bit more but my dados will be cut this weekend so no time like the present to make up my mind.
