I’m sure at one point someone seen me rant about how I despise photo graphics on pins… backglasses, cab art, and especially the playfield.. nothing wrecks a first impression on is pin then this….
soooooooooo anyway…. from the first second I seen JP’s diamond lady table, I knew the layout and work he put into it deserved retheme of the horrific shit show Gottlieb did on that poor machine… its kind of a cool layout… and thought i would do this just because
another disclaimer… I am not at all a Harley Quinn fan… and thought the movie sucked balls…. BUT!!… but…. there is so much good art for her, and kinda goes with the table and the diamond thing… so I downloaded about 200 images to sort thru and mash them into a playfield… so right now nothing is finalized as the end product.. might still change some stuff on the PF… the plastics haven’t even been started… I do have a few things I might do to make the game a bit different…
anyway here’s a look at whats going on…. its 4:25am here so you’re gonna have to deal with the poor grammar

Boah i don’t know this Art Comics, but that looking very nice … you are right with the Photo’s,
the same for Hollywood Heat, “awesome” Torpedo Alley lol, Raven and more … ok Genesis, is half ok for me …

I agree, I don’t like photos either. A reason I’m not a fan of many Stern tables. I was going to put Diamond Lady on my cab, but scrapped it for this very reason. Your Harley Quinn retheme will be a must! I love it!

Totally agree about your statements here HF. And I welcome a modified version of this table with big open arms. Like you say. The general layout of the table is actually quite nice. Just wonder how much of a disservice this did to Gottlieb back in the days.

I have no preference for either. I personally think it’s a matter of how well done the art is.
As an example, I love most Data East tables…but sometimes their hand drawn art can be terrible. I actually like both the movie Spider-man table and the Vault edition as well.
It’s nice being able to see pics on my 4K TV as well as on my 4K cabinet screen. You can really see the difference in quality when its actually a clean 4096 res image.

personally I love the artwork on the playfield of Hollywood Heat, the backglass not so much, but fortunately people out there have taken care of things and we get better options.. not to derail haunt’s thread but it’s related, so coming.. sometime…

Well I’m not saying I don’t enjoy the original pins artwork! Example would be raven that backglass is so bad I load that table up just for the bad art lol! But I have the b2s mod for it too

Don’t know much about the comics and it could fit well, however the playfield art feels a little cluttered to me. But as far as this vs original, WAAAYYY better!

I would agree that it would need pathways but the original didnt have them, so I went on the side of mayhem for the graphics… the other reason is she and the other DC art has so many different artists and artistic style, I wanted to capture all of them in into single image… I think in the real world of pinball where someone is being payed to create the PF art, the payment itself I believe is one of the great motivators on how much art to background ratio there is, I’m not being payed, and I didn’t have “really” create the images (even tho I have 20+ hours into it)… I said fuck it, and used as much art that i could fit in there….
any I try not to halfass stuff so it has all the plastics reflectors and will have all the cutout, and once the plastics are done it will look much more defined

I don’t know. Compared to eg. Space Invaders and Centaur, where there is almost no color separation, I don’t find this to be very cluttered. Your doing a great job here HF.
