is it possible (probably not) to use the bottom of the backglass screen as a topper screen ? before i cut my screen surround out, i have a real dmd to go on the bottom but just thought could use the area on the backglass that normally has the grill/dmd on as a topper

yes in popper you can divide your screen up any way you want… @Terry would be your point man on how to do it…

If you are only using backglass with a 16:9 screen and a real dmd underneath with no other screen space…

Not sure exactly how you want to use this in general?

A Topper is only really an advantage when on a 3rd screen….or if you have a vertical screen for your backglass like a Wedgehead that has a lot of space, and allows for a section of the screen that will only be used with a Topper/Under.

My setup uses a complete 3rd screen split in 2 for a DMD and “Under” screen.

My Tron Legacy PuP-Packs are different than what is normal. The reason why that works is because it’s only PuP being used…not a directb2s. A Popper Topper won’t appear over top of a directb2s.

Maybe if you could make a picture to show exactly what you are doing?

I was just thinking of using the space that normally had the virtual dmd at the bottom of the backglass screen so it could be used as a middle screen so it looked like it was between my real dmd and back TV

Excuse my poor attempt of a diagram, but this part of the screen could be used for something else, I’m going to make a frame around the screen so could blank the bottom 3rd off and cut a hole where I have drawn red and make that like a middle screen?

I was meaning under screen not topper, or would that not benefit me at all?

                  Yes.now i understand.

Straight up…no I would not bother with this…it really won’t benefit you trying to squish all that into your backglass.

…and with VPX you can’t have a Popper Topper appear over top of your direct b2s backglass, so it won’t really work with VPX anyway.

You are better off configuring your B2S backglasses to not show the grill and virtual DMD.

The Tron Legacy 2 on 1 PuP-Pack works only because you don’t use a directb2s backglass running with it.

Bottom line…no Popper Toppers on your backglass (except for Tron 2 on 1 Pup-Pack…but I recommend the Max Pack without Toppers anyway).

Thanks Terry much appreciated, will leave as it is

I’ve just tried your 2 on 1 tron and I don’t get the video playing on my backglass  just still shot on the small screen?

sorry for digging out this old thread, but this comes closest to what I’d like to get.

I have a 2 display setup with an almost 4:3 ratio backglass. Since most if not all PUP packs use 16:9 bg videos, to not get too distorted videos, I set up my  PuP player, that for the backglass only the upper 16:9 portion is used. The lower area is empty. Everything fine so far.

Now I want to use the lower part for topper videos just to have something there.

From the Pup player setup, that “Default – Topper” area shows up at the correct position,

                      Pup player Default Topper

but not in a live situation. In detail, The Beatles PuP pack has a topper video (the one with ‘recording’), but it does not show up for me, when starting the table. Anything else is just as expected.

                      So my question is:

Can I configure a topper screen within some area of another physical screen already used for the backglass? From my experiences within the player screen setup it should work.

Edit: and yes, at Default State, I chose ‘Show Always (On)’

For every PuP-Pack, if it has a Topper, you need to set it to ForceON in the PuP-Pack Editor. If you use Popper you can also have Popper’s Topper media set to Keep Display On for your Topper screen for all games or specific games. You need to set the PinupMenu PuP-Pack to ForceON for the Topper. Then for any games that need that Topper kept on, you set that in Game Manager with Keep Displays ON.

                          guess you mean like this?

                          PuP Beatles

Didn’t work, but maybe I did something wrong. When loading the pack i was asked, if I want to create a pack… After that three new files were in the seawitfp folder (playlists, screen and triggers.pup). Seems to run exactly as before, though…

                          No Popper btw.

That is normally correct for any PuP-Pack.

….but I forgot that Beatles doesn’t use a “Pup-Pack”…it uses PuP Videos. That means that to enable the Topper, you enable that in the script somewhere, as that table uses PuP script commands, not a pup-pack for triggering videos.

The 3 files that were created, aren’t needed for this table and should be deleted. You need to enable the Topper in the script.
