January 17, 2020 at 11:49 am #158974OK guys, time for a survey! (can I add a Poll to this???)
yesterday started in on the topside with shiny bits and bobs. needed to tee nut about 10 of the posts so that took a bit of time, yes I could have filled and re-drilled and used regular wood screw posts, but I figure there is a reason that those posts were loose, and looking at where they were it made sense as all were high impact areas so I figure spend the time now while it’s on the rotisserie and bullet proof it.
for fun this morning I slapped the plastics on temporarily and hooked up my GI test power and and tested out the different sets of lane guides I have.
Stock color, red:
Some yellow:
And the all white look:
I would have liked to try orange as well, but I could not find them all in that color, just the little tent guides.
I’m leaning for a particular one, and my better half has a favorite as well, but what do you all think???? Oh, I should mention that at the moment I’m going with clear silicone rubbers on here, undecided on flipper colors yet (have white, black, red and orange in house), but also have enough white rubbers on hand to swap it all out if I decide I don’t like the clear.
Yes it’s getting close, and I’m getting excited, unfortunately found out after my last order that one of my flipper coils is FUBAR so I had to make another order so can’t do the flipper rebuild yet. I got most of the rubbers put on after these pics as well, and will need to adjust the slingshot switches, but everything else is looking good. I even got the spinner in and adjusted so it should rip nicely as well, much needed on this machine.
ORANGE :)

January 17, 2020 at 12:13 pm #158996I’d vote for red…Â but the yellow/orangish color is pretty sexy

January 17, 2020 at 12:20 pm #158998Normally I’m all for adding color – – but for some reason I’m liking the white. Thanks again for sharing this journey!

January 17, 2020 at 12:24 pm #159000Heavy preference for the yellow here. White in second place.
That yellow really works with the art and the vibe of Gottliebs in that era. I tend to favor stock colors but not here.

January 17, 2020 at 7:11 pm #159036Came home and promptly sparked up your vp version on my cab (love how this plays). After having it up for about an hour, I’m sticking with white! There’s plenty of red and amber elsewhere on the pf. White would complement the pop-caps and space bubbles on the plastics, and also the white lettering on the bg. Also might help create a more ‘icier’ outer space vibe. How cool that Steve at PBR still stocks those lane guides – the side ones appear to be the same used on my ’69 Gottlieb. Crazy. And so is this amazing project!  orange would be second choice ;)

January 18, 2020 at 12:03 am #159052The only reason why I would pick red is that it seems to be the original color. Personally I prefer the white over the orange and then red last.

January 18, 2020 at 1:16 am #159061My vote based on the photos is the yellow/orange
Other thoughts would be orange tent thingys with clear post underneath, i did that with purple tents and clear posts on my sttng. Or you can go all clear and use a frosted orange led bulb to make it more orange

January 18, 2020 at 9:25 am #159125I am a tad colorblind, but the yellow definitely looks more yellow in real life than that photo shows, but for now those are the ones that are attached.
The new coils for the flippers arrived yesterday so I believe that is the last thing on the list to do is full flipper rebuild, then screw on a few brackets that I can’t do while it’s in the rotisserie then throw it in the cab.
Heading out of town for the weekend so it all waits till next week.
Thanks for all the input guys.

January 18, 2020 at 10:14 am #159137the white really blends in well with the pop bumpers but I fear it would feel bland over time. The yellow matches well with the red/yellow of the plastics and therefore is the obvious winner here ;)

January 18, 2020 at 12:11 pm #159161I would vote yellow if it is similar orangeish in real, closely followed by red.

January 18, 2020 at 1:26 pm #159175Red for the outside larger ones, yellow for the tents. Actually I’m a bit of purist so I lean to what was original so I’d go red.

January 18, 2020 at 2:50 pm #159182yeah snow shoes, about 1/2 mile from the end of the plowed road/parking area. snow came to at least knee deep with the snow shoes on, about 4 feet of new stuff to shovel off the deck since we were last here at x-mas time.

January 18, 2020 at 3:06 pm #159185Thanks, my little slice of heaven, love it up here in the winter time, although that snowshoe stuff is getting to be a heck of a workout the older/lazier/out of shape I get.
