This lovely machine came into our art gallery this week, after all, Pinball Machines are “art” right. ;) Well I certainly think so.
Only 100 of these machine were produced and it’s believed that only about 40 are left. The restore is very very nice and it plays like an absolute dream!
It has quickly become one of my favourite machines to play, as it’s “my era” (early 80’s) and has one of my all time favourite sound schemes (Firepower with a little Flash for good measure)
It is up for sale but geez I hope it doesn’t sell too quickly. lol

May 26, 2019 at 9:44 pm #129584I have an acquaintance who owns one. Been trying to get together so that I can take reference pics of the pin for a decent vpx author lol. This has been a more difficult task than expected, still « working on it »

May 26, 2019 at 10:04 pm #129585I don’t think the person that owns the table will be willing to completely dissemble their table
but scans are needed over pictures.
early SS tables like this with no special toys can be built in a matter of days.
Especially this Williams tables where most of the primitives have been made for other tables
with a HQ PF scan I can have a playable table within a few hours.
I was able to do this in a few hours
the only thing I missing from the script is Solenoid 4; according tot he service manual it runs Flashers.
I have no idea how many or where they go.
aside from that the code is pretty much done.

What about really good pictures? ie 1:1 lifesize @300ppi
I realise that we are dealing with lenses and their curvilinear distortion characteristics, but lens profiling/correction can be applied. Just how super accurate do they need to be?

May 26, 2019 at 10:22 pm #129589Photos from a pro? Awesome.
Cell phone photos? Not awesome.
I’ve decided with a few exceptions to not spend time on projects without scanned assets, but there are some convincing reasons to break that rule. A well-photographed Star Light would be one of them.

May 27, 2019 at 1:21 am #129598yeah let’s be clear, if this happens, these won’t be scans, no way he let’s me take those plastics off (but I’ll ask!). Anyway I’ll do my darn best to get some decent pics but the guys is busy, he was in NY last weekend at the pin tourney and managed to place decently.
