Robocop Pup-Pack.
It’s my first experience with creating a pup-pack and also the first non-dot matrix pack ever :). There were some initial issues with using a rom like Robocop as source for screen triggering, but with the help of David we made it happen :). As the rom sends out Dxx commands I needed to use dummy trigger files to prevent unwanted movie clips triggering.
This pack complements the excellent vpx table of Robocop created by ICPjuggla. Big thanks to him for his contribution to this awesome community.
I finally lost my virginity and this tastes for more :). I would like to thank David for his support/testing and Terry for his great examples and tutorials.
The source of the video used is the RoboCop 1987 Remastered Bluray release. It is a real classic movie and quite controversial back in the days due to the extreme violence displayed in the movie. I also love the stop-motion work of ED209 in this movie.
IMPORTANT: this pack includes some R-rated movie clips not suited for children.
Enjoy :)!

October 20, 2018 at 11:36 am #101273It looks like you are using DMD triggers. Given that this is not originally a DMD table, some folks may have disabled external DMD for this rom. You should probably specify that this is needed in the installation instructions.

October 20, 2018 at 12:37 pm #101279Might be because I only use two screen with my Real DMD but my flippers freeze as things are getting triggered by the PUPPack. The video on the backglass is playing great, it just makes the flippers pause. All my other puppacks run great so. Table runs fine with normal B2S
The videos are great, nice job. Hope I can get this working.

October 20, 2018 at 4:43 pm #101284I understand how to move and resize a normal dmd and even using external dll. this game doesn’t have a normal dmd so when I turn on the external it always shows up at the bottom of my playfield and after I move and resize it, it goes back to pf on next game. any thoughts

To clarify…you can have External DMD enabled…but still not actually use/display it for this table. You would just need to add this table to dmddevice.ini, with that option to “display” the virtual DMD disabled.

October 20, 2018 at 5:10 pm #101286Pack is designed for 3 screen setup, but should work with 2 screens. You can place the virtual dmd in the lower section of the screen to display the scoring. The freeze is something new to me. Perhaps it’s the topper vid that is causing the pause? Try to move the vid from the topper directory or edit the pack and disable the topper.
Also make sure the original b2s file is not in your table directory. Move it to another location (e.g. a temp or backup directory).

October 20, 2018 at 5:22 pm #101287In the uploaded version I set the sound volume of the video clips to 80. If you want to have them louder (for instance 100) you can download the attached trigger file and place it in the root of the pack of modify the trigger file yourself (via PinUpPackEditor or notepad).

October 20, 2018 at 6:35 pm #101291Thanks for the hard work. I got it going by doing the following:
F1 when backglass loaded to enable Virtual DMD
Right click on backglass and set DMD to visible so I had scores on my 3rd screen
added this to my dmddevice.ini as terryred suggested, this hid the dot matrix version of the scores in favor for the LCD line style:
[robo_a34]
virtualdmd enabled = falseThen, I decided I Wanted the backglass by default vs the orion movie theme opening repeatedly playing so left the backglass in my directory and renamed default.mov in the BGDefault folder.

October 20, 2018 at 7:12 pm #101298Good work for your first effort! I always liked this table. ICP actually thought this table should get the PuP treatment after I did the first Tron PuP-Edition table mod way back.
It definitely takes a while to learn the MANY features of PuP…and some tables need them whereas others don’t. My older packs need to be updated to take advantage of them to allow for better flow and not having videos interrupt each other as often.
There are many ways to make a Pack…and I’m still learning news ways of doing things better / cooler.
Great stuff.

October 25, 2018 at 6:27 pm #101702its the same for me… but once I exit VP itself, PUP closes down. Are you exiting VP itself as well, not just the table?

October 26, 2018 at 5:02 am #101727PUP closes down when you completely exit vpx. This is default and not pup-pack specific.

October 26, 2018 at 8:57 am #101737Correct I think UltraDMD does the same thing too

October 26, 2018 at 10:30 am #101739fun fact… this is because VPINMAME is not unloaded/closed after playing a game inside editor (hence why freezy/pup/others are left open)…. you have to exit the editor for vpinmame to close…..the reason for this is a great mystery.

October 30, 2020 at 1:19 pm #207565First time trying this one. I can’t get any triggers to work, just see the Orion video over and over.
I enabled ‘use external dmd’ via the F1 key with no change.
I am running the latest Pinup Player 1.4.5 which may be the issue? Thanks

October 30, 2020 at 1:32 pm #207567Weird… are you running the robo_a34 rom? Any strange coloring you using?
Popper version is ok, running the same one.
Do you have this enabled in you dmddevice.ini?
[pinup]

October 30, 2020 at 2:46 pm #207578Hi yes I’m using that same rom. I have the dmdext 1.8 already and have that setting enabled.
Downloaded the pup a second time to make sure it wasn’t messed up somehow with no change.
No biggie just strange it’s working for you.
