I was inspired to build a pincab when I saw one of Terry Red’s videos of Pinup Popper in action!  Started by finding an old Joker base with legs, lockdown and glass for $40 on craigslist.org.

Got it home and cleaned up.

Someone had started on it for a cab project before I got it, as the sides were routed out for monitor placement.

Little rough overall, but great find for $40 :yahoo:

Did some repair work and moved the plunger hole up to a more natural position.

Then started construction on the backglass.  I sized it for a 27″ BG monitor and 16″ DMD/Topper.

I knew that I wanted some great artwork thought I’d use Sailor Jerry artwork as my theme.

Never been much of a graphical artist, but here was my first attempt.

                  Sailor Jerry

After seeing the great work that Stuzza does, I reached out for some professional help..

While I was waiting on artwork. I mounted my 27″ backglass monitor and 16″ DMD/Topper video monitor.  Also, I knew that my crummy soldering skills weren’t capable of doing the work for flasher bar.  So I ordered Zeb’s flasher board and plunger/controller.   Also picked up leaf switch buttons for plungers and nice looking Ball Launch and Coin In buttons.  Speakers are 4″ from Parts Express, with Lepai amp.  Here’s the trial fit on everything.  Also did black T-molding on the exposed edges of backglass woodwork.

I mostly kept track of everything I purchased.  Luckily a friend of mine gifted me a Dell PC and I had the lumber and some other items left over from previous projects.

Overall, I’m in for just under $2,200.  I picked up the cabinet body on 9/21/2018 and consider it playable now 12/11/2018.  Still working out some kinks with some tables and sound issues.  Family loves playing Steam FX3 tables and Pinup Popper works great for the frontend.  Also need to figure out why I can’t record playfield videos of FX3 with Pinup.  Sure I’ll get those worked out though.  Until then, I’ll be playing Elvira and Adam’s Family!   :bye:

Figured out my issue with Pinup Popper.  If you want to record playfield videos in FX3, it must be set up borderless window mode, not full screen!  Looks great now! american dad
