I have been running smoothly for several months.  All of the sudden both my playfield and backglass go blank after playing a minute or two.  It only happens in VPX.  Computer runs all day otherwise.  Tried upgrading to vpx 10.5 with same result.  Happens on all vpx tables.

Any cleans what could be causing this and how to fix?

You should try to run some kind of other performance test to your machine. It might be hardware/cooling related.

Looking at youtube isn’t the same as playing a game for your PC. Take or leave my advice. Not me having problems.

Sounds like something maybe overheating, have you cleaned the inside of your computer lately

Thalamus – certainly was not trying to be disrepectful. I was just trying to point out that for some reason this just occurs in VPX. Happens shortly after I start playing a table. I will try to download some performance software and see what I get.

It can of course be something very different. Even VP related. It is not that. The way you described it looks very close to some cases I’ve seen, being a “computer guy” where the machine didn’t get the cooling needed. Does the machine crash, just exit VP or reboot ?

If I start via pinballx, When screens go blank I hit my Exit button and it returns to pinballx menu. I will do some more troubleshooting tonight or tomorrow to determine how to recover from standalone vpx execution. Really weird that I can return to windows and run getting directories, youtube, etc without any issue but within a minute or two of running vps it does it.

Yes. You should try with as little components as possible active. Ie. No frontend for now. If you run Forced Fullscreen. You should even consider disabling that for now as errors can get lost with it enabled.

Tonight I let it run for an hour just cycling through the pinballx menu. I have about 115 tables. Run without a glitch. Then I exited to desktop and ran vps standalone. Scrrens went blank within a minute or two. All I had to do was wiggle the mouse and functional displays returned. It was as if both monitors went into sleep mode and I just needed to wiggle mouse.

Why in the world would this just start happening and only in vpx? Its been running great for months.

Any clues? I did check the power mgmt and it is fine.

                        Frustrated!!!
