I’m new to the virtual pinball thing but built myself a cab from scratch and have been moving along nicely over the past few months. Ive followed the online tutorials from Terry Reid and everything has pretty much worked as planed with some minor hiccups. One area where I’ve ran into some issues and haven’t really found a solution was on certain games I’m getting what looks like two separate dmds. One is generally where I want it positioned and the second which is a nicer version somehow is on the playfield. Just messing around I’ve noticed if I use the pinmame 32bit test this happens, if I run the 64bit pinmame test it works as it should (one dmd on the backglass). Ive already checked that I dont have the global configuration check marked for both the default dmd and the external dmd.dll. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can resolve this? The example game I was using was the black knight. On a side note I did find some coding to remove the alphanumeric displays by doing a enable = false in the setup file but that still leaves the DMD showing minus the individual alpha numeric displays. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

November 19, 2020 at 6:28 pm #211217Pre-DMD era games just use an LED display so you need to uncheck “Use External DMD” in the ROM settings. Hit F1 once you start the game, then restart the game. The reason you’re seeing two (and want zero) is that you’re getting pinmame’s and Freezy’s.

November 19, 2020 at 8:16 pm #211224I did try that already but I was able to figure it out. Apparently using the original backglass file would load both dmds, switching to a modified backglass option “fantasy” mode ended up utilizing only one dmd which made it work. Not sure why but it did.

February 19, 2021 at 10:03 pm #225065I’m having this issue as well. Can you please be more specific about the solution you found. I want freezys dmd but the standard shows as well when I load a table. I have both dmd options unchecked. When I test in pinmame it works as it should but when I load the table both are back again. I’m also not usingany backglass files that I’m aware of.

February 19, 2021 at 10:40 pm #225079I found the backglass I’m sure you were referring to. It was built into the table. My solution was to delete the dmd embedded into the backglass.

February 19, 2021 at 11:16 pm #225084Alright caused more problems with scripting. Seemed fine with some tables but broke others. I can reinstall the tables easy enough but I’ll be back to square one. How can I disable this. Any help appreciated.

February 20, 2021 at 11:13 am #225151Gonna leave this here on the off chance it may help another noob like myself. If your table has a built in dmd and you want it off go into the script and change external dmd to true. And that ends this round of me replying to myself on message boards while I figure out simple things.
