Hi all
Is there as simple way to replace the table sounds in script for tables such as GARGOR I want to reskin the table with some mods to create a forbidden planet themed table. the graphics seam easy to change and 3d element and lighting I can do and most of the sound on this table are good.
But I would like to add some call outs and add a music bed. These seam to be handled by the rom as the sound manager only contains basic mechanical sound effects. There is currently no script for the other sounds.
Can the original rom files be edited (swapped out)?
Can script be added to turn off the rom sounds and code added to use the files from the sound manager along with the other basic mechanical sound effects?
I have chosen a daily simple table but i am not a coder. I would love any help people can give.
Thanks in advance

July 1, 2020 at 1:30 pm #189280Change rom sound ? Possible – yes, hard yes. You don’t want to go there.
Turn of the rom sounds – sure, many tables do that already, just don’t forget to turn that sound back again on table_exit, or I’ll come running – shouting and cursing at you.
You shouldn’t have any problems finding modified sound tables on this site. A few good ones, most just what you are asking. Boring, just new playfield and nothing else. I recommend that you look at the Clash Pro table or the Iron Maiden that both changed more than just the playfield image and slapped on some different sounds.

July 1, 2020 at 1:45 pm #189284Hi I will take a look and see what I figure out but as I say I am not a coder.
It is my first table and modding a existing table seams a wise choice to achieve and learn. Like to do more but baby steps .
Anyone have direct script experience/reference with this what to look for and gotchers.
Thank you

July 1, 2020 at 2:40 pm #189289Take a look at The Flash (DC comics) mod of Williams Flash. Found on this site. It was my first mod and does what you decribe. Just use a program like Diffmerge to compare the original script to the changed script. You’ll copy and paste the scripts from both into txt files on notepad, and import them into Diffmerge.
The program will display both scripts side by side and highlight the differences line by line. You’ll start to see how the script was modded to add new callouts, suppressing rom sounds, and adding SSF.
