On eight ball when I change the chime/tune option on the F6 menu it made no difference. Could this be the fix for that?

I don’t think it is related – no. I haven’t really studied why these samples are needed, I only know they are. It is more like that if you don’t have them, there is many tables that don’t get the samples they need. Why you don’t hear so much about these anymore is because the one in all installer makes sure they are installed.

Hell Pac-Man and donkey Kong still need samples in mame so I’ve always just made sure those are in place

the melody is done by the Chimes
they are solenoid controlled, the sounds need to be imported to your table
